Role Summary

Our mission is to produce and distribute drinking water and collect and sanitize wastewater. We facilitate access to resources, contribute to their preservation and renewal.

Est Détection Réseaux (EDR), a subsidiary of THEBA/Veolia Eau France, is a human-sized company, expert in the research, detection and tracing of water leaks.

  • As a Leak Detection Technician, you work on drinking water networks to detect, locate and characterize leaks. As such, your main missions are as follows:
  • Prepare interventions based on operating plans and data;
  • Carry out campaigns to search for leaks on networks and connections;
  • Choose and implement suitable detection methods and equipment (electroacoustic listening, correlation, tracer gas, pressure and flow measurements, etc.);
  • Locate and mark leaks for repairs;
  • Find and trace buried pipes and connections;
  • Carry out the field and GPS surveys necessary to update the network assets;
  • Carry out, if necessary, checks on fire poles and hydrants;
  • Analyze the results, assess the urgency of interventions and transmit the information to the repair teams;
  • Write intervention reports and monitor the data collected;

Ensure equipment is maintained and safety and signage rules are respected.

Requirements

  • Training: CAP, BP, or Bac Pro in Plumbing, Thermal Installation, or Water Trades. (Specific training in leak detection is highly appreciated).
  • Experience: Prior experience of 2 to 5 years as a plumber, heating engineer or maintenance technician is often required to fully understand network design.
  • Driving license: B license required (service vehicle provided for travel).

Knowledge

  • Solid knowledge of plumbing, heating, and sanitary networks.
  • General knowledge of buildings (structure, materials, insulation).
  • Proficiency (or ability to quickly learn) of specific detection equipment.
  • Comfort with IT tools (tablet, smartphone) for writing reports.
  • Excellent writing skills (spelling, clarity, technical precision).
  • Spirit of analysis and deduction

Rigor and method

  • Relationship skills: Reassure customers who are often stressed by water damage, demonstrate pedagogy and diplomacy.
  • Autonomy: Ability to manage interventions in the field alone.
