We are looking for a Java Developer with experience in healthcare systems integration and knowledge of HL7 standards (V2 or FHIR).

The professional will work on the development and maintenance of interoperability solutions, ensuring efficient communication between different clinical systems and healthcare platforms.

This is a 100% remote position, with international collaboration in an environment of high technical responsibility and direct impact on the public health sector.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and evolve integration systems between different healthcare applications.
• Develop Java applications to exchange clinical data using HL7 v2.x or FHIR.
• Create and configure HL7 interfaces (sending, receiving and transforming messages).
• Implement message routing and transformation solutions (e.g. between ADT, ORM, ORU).
• Integrate Java applications with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, interoperability platforms and clinical services.
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to understand integration requirements and needs.
• Ensure compliance with health data regulations (LGPD, GDPR, HIPAA, where applicable).
• Perform unit and integration tests on all developed solutions.
• Diagnose and resolve incidents related to data exchange and HL7 interfaces.
• Produce technical documentation of interfaces, message flows and APIs developed.

Mandatory Requirements

• Education: Completed higher education in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related areas.
• Professional experience: minimum of 3 years with software development in a corporate environment.
• Java (8+): minimum 3 years of solid backend experience.
• Messaging: minimum 2 years with Kafka and/or RabbitMQ.
• Data Formats: domain of JSON, XML and Protocol Buffers.
• REST APIs: minimum of 2 years developing and consuming RESTful services.
• HL7 standards: minimum of 2 years with HL7 v2.x or FHIR (message creation, parsing, validation and transformation).

Requirements

Desirable

• Fluency in English (spoken and written) to communicate with international teams.
• Experience with clinical modules, EHR/EMR, IHE, or HIS/LIS/RIS integrations.
• Knowledge of interoperability tools such as Mirth Connect, HAPI FHIR, or InterSystems Ensemble.
• Familiarity with Docker, Spring Boot and microservices.
