Senior Java Back-End Developer

Role Summary

The Senior Java Backend Developer will be responsible for developing, evolving and sustaining backend solutions using Java, ensuring high quality, scalability, security and performance of applications. This role requires strong technical expertise, architectural thinking and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, in addition to the strategic use of generative AI tools to increase productivity, quality and innovation.

The professional will also work to support the construction and evolution of AI agents, collaborating in the development of services, integrations and intelligent flows that use AI in a safe, observable way and aligned with business needs.

Differentiators

• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, Dynatrace, Splunk or Grafana;
• Relevant technical certifications (AWS, Kubernetes, Java, etc.);
• Experience in technological innovation and digital transformation projects;
• Interest or experience in exploring generative AI applied to the software development lifecycle, including:
• Code review;
• Refactoring;
• Tests;

Responsibilities

Main daily activities

• Develop, maintain and evolve backend services using Java;
• Help build, evolve and integrate AI agents into existing backend systems;
• Collaborate in the development of services and APIs that support intelligent agents, ensuring scalability and reliability;
• Use generative AI tools, such as Cursor and/or Claude Opus, to:
• Speed up code development;
• Support refactoring and continuous improvement;
• Assist with legacy code analysis and reverse engineering;
• Support in writing and reviewing tests and technical documentation;
• Contribute to the design, evolution and support of software architecture, including solutions that involve AI;
• Implement good development practices, market standards and principles such as Clean Code, SOLID and Design Patterns;
• Ensure code quality through technical reviews, automated tests and use of support tools;

Work collaboratively with Product, Architecture, DevOps and other areas to align technical solutions with business objectives.

• Develop new functionalities and maintain existing solutions;
• Perform reverse engineering of legacy systems, aiming to build new systems or modernize platforms;
• Support initiatives to build AI agents, contributing with backend logic, integrations and support services;
• Monitor, analyze and optimize application performance;
• Actively participate in technical and strategic decisions related to software development;
• Ensure clear, updated and easy-to-understand technical documentation;
• Act as a technical reference, mentoring junior and intermediate developers and promoting a continuous learning environment;

Evaluate and adopt new tools, including AI-based solutions, that bring real gains in efficiency and quality to the team.

Requirements

What we look for in you!

• Solid experience in backend development with Java;
• Experience in developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs;
• Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases;
• Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines;
• Knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes;
• Experience with Cloud Computing, especially AWS;
• Experience with agile methodologies (Scrum or Kanban);
• Practical experience or familiarity in using AI tools to support development, such as Cursor, Claude Opus, Copilot or similar;

Interest or experience in collaborating on building AI agents and intelligent solutions integrated into the backend.
