Role Summary

Context

Windows server management

Installation, configuration and maintenance of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022.

Migration and updating of systems to ensure compatibility and security.

Performance optimization (CPU, RAM, storage) via tools like Performance Monitor or Resource Monitor.

Active Directory (AD) Services

Administration of domains, forests, and trust relationships.

Management of user accounts, groups, and access rights (GPO, ACL).

Troubleshooting issues related to AD replication, Group Policies (GPO), and security policies.

Virtualization

Deployment and management of Hyper-V or VMware environments.

Configuration of virtual machines (VMs), virtual networks, and shared storage (SAN/NAS).

Optimization of resources allocated to VMs to avoid bottlenecks.

  1. Technical leadership and team management

Team management

Distribution of tasks and prioritization of interventions based on customer needs.

Mentoring junior engineers: training, code review (PowerShell scripts), and sharing of best practices.

Performance evaluation and constructive feedback to promote skills development.

Inter-team coordination

Collaboration with DevOps teams to industrialize deployments (CI/CD).

Work with network teams to guarantee connectivity and optimal latency.

Synchronization with security (SOC, CISO) to apply compliance policies (GDPR, ISO 27001).

Major incident management

Support for technical escalations (level 3) and resolution of critical incidents (e.g. AD failure, database corruption).

Writing post-incident reports (RCA: Root Cause Analysis) and proposing fixes.

  1. Automation and industrialization

Scripting and automation

Development of PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks (e.g. creation of user accounts, backups, audits).

Use of tools like Ansible, Terraform, or Puppet for large-scale deployment and configuration.

Integration of monitoring solutions (SCOM, Nagios, Zabbix) to supervise infrastructures.

Deployment and management of tools

Configuring and maintaining SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager) for patch and software deployment.

Management of WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) for security updates.

Automation of backups (Veeam, Commvault) and restoration tests.

  1. Security and Compliance

Application of security policies

Implementation of Microsoft best practices (CIS Benchmarks, STIG).

Management of firewalls, IPS/IDS, and encryption solutions (BitLocker, TLS).

Regular audit of privileged access and event logs (Event Viewer, SIEM).

Regulatory compliance

Compliance with GDPR, ISO 27001, or NIS 2 standards depending on the client's sector.

Documentation of processes for internal/external audits.

Collaboration with CISOs (Information Systems Security Managers) for security reviews.

  1. Technology monitoring and innovation

Monitoring Microsoft developments

Evaluation of new features in Windows Server 2025, Azure, or Office 365.

Proposal for migrations to the cloud (e.g.: lift-and-shift to Azure) or infrastructure modernization (e.g.: transition to containers with Docker/Kubernetes).

Benchmark and POC (Proof of Concept)

Testing new solutions (e.g. Azure Arc, Windows Admin Center) before deployment.

Writing technical notes or feedback to share knowledge with the team.

Project management and technical roadmap

Participation in strategic projects

Contribution to the client's or ALTEN's IT roadmap (e.g. migration to the cloud, consolidation of data centers).

Planning for major updates (e.g. transition from Windows Server 2012 to 2022).

Reporting and communication

Writing technical reports for management or the client.

Presentation of project progress during meetings (e.g. steering committees).

Profile sought

Education: Engineering degree or Master 2 in computer science.

Experience: 6 years minimum in Windows system administration, including 2 years in team management.

  • Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, Hyper-V/VMware, PowerShell.

  • Soft skills: Leadership, autonomy, rigor, excellent communication (French + technical English).
