Sampling Technician

Role Summary

Carry out sampling activities at Eurofins, using appropriate equipment and carrying out necessary measurements and records at the sampling site, respecting the safety, health and environmental standards established by the company and customers.

Activities: The Atmospheric Sampling service involves working at height, working in industrial structures, such as chimneys, platforms and ladders, using specific equipment for environmental measurements.

Hazardous bonus: 30% of the minimum wage.

Responsibilities

• Collect samples using appropriate equipment;
• Follow the sampling plan defined by the area Coordinator;
• Develop good communication/relationship with the client and/or project representative;
• Measure and record the temperature of samples that require specific packaging conditions, when applicable;
• Carry out necessary measurements at the sampling site (e.g. temperature, pH and other required parameters);
• Monitor environmental conditions relevant to the type of service, when necessary;
• Deliver the collected samples to the laboratories;
• Perform (or request) maintenance on equipment and utensils used in sampling;
• Act in accordance with safety, health and environmental standards established by the company and/or customers;
• Keep yourself presentable, respecting company rules. This care must extend to cars and equipment;
• Handle chemical solutions to preserve samples, when necessary;
• Fill out an electronic spreadsheet with information on the samples collected, when necessary;

• Guide teams of assistants to follow procedures, sampling plan and safety standards;
• Drive a company vehicle to travel to the customer's premises, where the sampling procedure will be carried out;
• Review and create new documents in the Quality Management system;
• Control the company's vehicle fleet;
• Identify the need for technical training of employees in the area and forward the request to the immediate superior.
• Perform other related activities, as necessary, or at the discretion of your superior.

Requirements

• Behavioral skills: Commitment, good communication and interpersonal relationships, organization, discipline, pro-activity, dynamism, punctuality, flexibility and agility.
• Required training: Complete technical course in Chemistry, Environment or Safety.

Additional training: -

• Languages and expected level: Basic English.
• Previous experience (type and duration): 1 to 3 years of experience.
• Technical knowledge: Sampling techniques for different matrices (as required by the contracting unit), knowledge of safety standards and use of PPE, handling of glassware and equipment. It is essential to have a Microsoft Office (Excel) driver's license.

Necessary Requirements

• Have active CRQ or availability for activation.
• Availability of time and travel;
• Category B driver's license, issued at least 2 years ago;
• Knowledge in isokinetic collection, particulates, gases, vapors and monitoring in chimneys.
