Internship - How to secure our means of transport and guarantee the maintenance of it

Role Summary

BACKGROUND

The objects and systems that surround us are increasingly computerized and open to the outside world.

The objects and systems that surround us are increasingly computerized and open to the outside world. All sectors of activity are concerned, for example in the transport sector: trains use standardized IT platforms and are connected with the outside world to provide information to maintenance, video feeds from cameras and to provide passenger information or even advertising. The same goes for cars which tend to be connected with their environments to provide precise information on traffic and be able to offer enriched services. This is also the case for planes but also for consumer products: televisions, refrigerators, speakers for listening to music, locks, etc. However, the interconnection and computerization of these products make them more vulnerable to cyber threats.

Within the companies manufacturing these products, a new role is emerging: the Product Security Manager (person who manages and organizes the security of a product) or Product Security Officers (people who check and concretely apply the security of the product on a daily basis). This new player must take cybersecurity into account in the development of these products and in their maintenance in secure condition once sold.

To carry out its mission, the PSM or PSO must take into account the constraints and risks linked to its sector of activity and also the laws, regulations, norms, standards are multiplying, both sectoral and generic (IEC 62443, ANSSI security guide, NIST SP 800-82, etc.).

OBJECTIVE OF THE INTERNSHIP

The objective of this internship is to provide an overview of the activities of a PSM or PSO for a set of sectors which will be defined (eg: air, rail, maritime, consumer goods, medical, etc.). This overview will take into account the constraints and specificities specific to the sector but also the existing security opportunities.

WORK TO BE CARRIED OUT

Under the supervision of a consultant and the guidance of a manager, the intern may be required to carry out part or all of the following work:

Benchmark of normative constraints by sector of activity for a PSM.

Formalization of a presentation on the panorama of PSM activities.

Design of a maturity assessment tool for PSM.

Analysis of the major risks weighing on a particular product.

Graduate or future graduate of an engineering school, business school or university, you have solid training and/or a marked interest in technological and cybersecurity issues.

Above all, we are looking for curious, structured profiles with strong analytical skills, capable of working on complex issues and interacting with both business and technical contacts.

The title and exact framing of the internship subject or the work to be carried out will be confirmed at the start of the internship.
