When taking on the role of Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python) at Afya, your main objective will be to design, develop and evolve scalable backend systems with high performance and quality

You will work in the Development area within the Technology department and will be part of a multidisciplinary team. .

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for agile deliveries: work side by side with backends, frontends and cloud to ensure that solutions are implemented efficiently, aligned with needs;

Ensure platform performance and stability: design and implement secure APIs and integrations, in addition to carrying out automated monitoring and testing to ensure that the platform's data and processes remain consistent, fast and available in any situation;

• 🔎 WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (but we don’t expect a single person to meet all the requirements):
• Proven experience in Python, with an emphasis on frameworks such as Django and FastAPI for building scalable and maintainable APIs and web systems;
• Mastery of Git and organization of commit history, ensuring traceability and quality of deliveries;
• High ability to help other team members to develop, being able to communicate technical decisions clearly and objectively;

Broad view of development processes and agile flows, with in-depth understanding of the application life cycle and integration with other areas (front-end, QA, dev-ops);

• Advanced knowledge in project architecture, design patterns and backend development best practices, prioritizing code readability and testability;
• Experience with relational databases, Django ORM, migrations and query optimization for high performance;
• Knowledge in unit testing, integration and E2E using tools such as Pytest, unittest, Playwright, ensuring quality and reliability;
• Familiarity with CI/CD, containerization (Docker), automated deployments and monitoring in a cloud environment;

Strong ability to influence, engage and resolve conflicts constructively.
