Role Summary

This is a remote position.

TEHORA is currently looking for a senior data governance advisor with excellent technical skills, excellent knowledge and who wishes to leverage their skills within a versatile team.

Without being exhaustive, here are the services and deliverables that the successful candidate must provide.

Responsibilities

Description of work or deliverables

With the goal of establishing a product data governance framework for the organization, it seeks help from a senior data governance advisor. This senior advisor will be responsible for defining, planning, implementing and operationalizing data governance. Additionally, the mandate will need to take into account different laws, compliances and requirements of the organization's stakeholders.

Surrounded by its partners, the organization actively participates in the Digital Intelligence Project (CIN). This initiative, as well as strong demand for its analytical applications, encourages the organization to improve the quality of its data and metadata repositories.

The challenge is not only to bring together all existing data governance information in one place, but also to operationalize a governance framework including approval processes, standards regarding data and its protection, procedures to be followed as well as the implementation of tooling to increase the efficiency and consistency of a single data repository. This data repository will later offer the possibility of automating deployments of analytical applications. Subsequently, the content of this repository will be used by all partners to facilitate self-service development on the different development platforms offered by the organization (API, analytics, web).

The Resource must be comfortable communicating, explaining and defending the strategies and directions they propose according to their discipline or mandate because they may be required to communicate this information to various levels of management.

  • The senior data governance advisor is notably responsible for:
  • establish the data governance strategy for on-premises and cloud systems developed for our customers;
  • define the standards surrounding the storage and use of data in operational and analytical contexts while respecting compliance, privacy and security policies;
  • develop guidelines and processes for populating a data repository, approving new models, storing metadata, classifying data and analyzing risks;
  • establish an effective communication strategy for processes and information assets;

develop rules and processes to control the availability, integrity and confidentiality of data between the various types of deployed systems.

The main activities of the Senior Data Governance Advisor include:

  • define the standards surrounding the storage and use of data in operational and analytical contexts while respecting compliance, privacy and security policies. Advise the organization in establishing a culture that values data (data-driven culture);
  • lead workshops with managers and the legal team to ensure alignment with current and future regulations as well as to meet the organization's responsibilities and obligations towards its partners;
  • draft a reference framework, policies, work plans, data management processes, a data governance transformation framework and a change support strategy;
  • collaborate on the roadmap for implementing data governance within the company;
  • to advise on the integration of data lineage into sound data governance (DB, warehouse, pipeline, Data Vault, dimensional, tabular, ML, reports, API);
  • participate in the choice of the data catalog tool (Data Catalog) meeting the current needs of the company and its partners;
  • establish a business taxonomy and ontology;
  • suggest mechanisms to ensure data compliance;
  • develop process improvements and data community to strengthen overall data quality;

to share before the end of his mandate what is necessary for the continuity of data governance activities.

Requirements

  • have more than six (6) years of experience in the field of data governance;
  • have more than ten (10) years of experience in the field of data management (development, BI, DBA);
  • have already implemented sound data governance in a complex development environment;
  • having carried out mandates to develop data governance policies and procedures;
  • have completed a mandate to implement a data catalog (Data Catalog) or a data governance tool (Data Governance Tool) (e.g.: Collibra, OpenMetadata, Atlan, Alation);
  • have worked with the operation of multi-agency systems on-premises and in the cloud, in different business areas.
  • The senior data governance advisor must at least have expertise covering these aspects:
  • concepts of data governance and quality as well as industry-recognized best practices;
  • Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Server, Snowflake, Azure Data Lake technologies;
  • Power BI environment (semantic models and visualization tools);
  • 3FN, Data Vault, dimensional and tabular modeling;

laws and regulations on the protection of personal information (Act modernizing legislative provisions relating to the protection of personal information (Act 25)).

WORKPLACE

The place of work will be determined according to the mandate, it can be teleworking or at the client's site.
