IT Senior Programm Manager (gn)

Role Summary

Start: Immediately | Level: Senior | Location: Germany, remote | Working hours: full time (40h/week)

As a Senior IT Program Manager (gn), you will be responsible for cross-departmental control of all IT projects and programs across four specialist areas: Infrastructure, Cloud & AI Platforms, Security and Application Management. You are the central link that prevents areas from projecting past each other. You make the overall portfolio transparent, control the receipt of new projects, resolve dependencies and resource conflicts at an early stage and escalate if necessary - not as a decision-maker, but as an enabler.

Your mission with us

Cross-divisional project portfolio

Building and maintaining a transparent IT project portfolio across all four areas - you make visible what is running, what is planned and what is blocking each other

• Prioritization in coordination with the heads: which projects have which dependencies, where are resource conflicts, what has to wait
• Control of cross-departmental projects: new cloud services, internationalization, AI rollouts, location developments that affect several areas
• Regular communication to the VP: portfolio status, risks, need for decisions – short and with clear status (red/yellow/green)
• Leadership IT Project Manager (Matrix)
• Controlling IT Project Manager – you define priorities, quality standards and work packages
• Joint project planning: you keep the overall plan, the operational implementation lies with both you and the project manager
• Sparring and further development: you bring in methodological expertise and help the project managers to develop further
• Project Intake & Demand Management

Establishing and operating a binding project intake process: no project starts without a defined scope, business owner and resource check - regardless of which channel the request comes from

• Evaluating incoming inquiries: You make this distinction consistently and prevent operational activities from being managed as projects
• Dependency management & escalation
• Identification and resolution of dependencies between infrastructure, cloud & AI platforms, security and application management
• Early escalation to the VP if projects block each other or resources are missing
• Ensuring that all IT projects – regardless of their origin – go through the portfolio process
• Ensuring clean handover of project results into operations – documentation, instruction, support concept
• Establishing uniform project standards: templates, status reports, milestones - pragmatic, not bureaucratic
• Your experience & skills
• Technically
• Several years of experience in managing IT project portfolios in technically complex environments
• Proven experience in coordinating cross-departmental IT projects – not just individual projects

Understanding of IT infrastructure, cloud and AI platforms, application management and security at a level that enables technical discussions with the heads - you don't have to be able to do everything, but you have to understand what the teams are doing

• Experience with project portfolio management: prioritization, dependency analysis, resource planning
• Pragmatic methodological competence: you know agile and classic approaches and choose what suits the situation - not dogma
• Knowledge of IT governance frameworks (ITIL COBIT) is an advantage – not mandatory
• Personal & methodical
• Ability to achieve results through matrix leadership - without disciplinary authority, through conviction and clarity
• Strong communication skills at all levels: technical discussions with admins, strategic coordination with heads, escalation to the VP
• Structured way of working: you bring order to complexity without creating bureaucratic overhead
• Conflict competence: if two areas fight over the same resource, you can find a solution or escalate cleanly
• Personal responsibility: you build a new unit - not everything is predefined, you actively shape it
• Experience working with different stakeholders at different levels
• Very good knowledge of German, good knowledge of English
