Job description
- Salary:
- EUR 3,145 - 5,900 per month
- Location:
- Echt, LI, Netherlands
- Work arrangement:
- On-site
Role Summary
As a Service Technician you work on the maintenance and troubleshooting of objects within the Rijkswaterstaat area. You ensure that these installations continue to function as intended and thus contribute directly to an infrastructure that must literally keep moving.
No day is the same. Sometimes you work outside at a lock installation or weir, other times inside in a technical room. Sometimes you solve a problem that has just arrived, sometimes you perform planned maintenance. You work largely independently, but when necessary you work together with colleagues or subcontractors, for example during larger work or when safety requires it.
You usually start your working day directly on location. From the Maintenance Management System (Ultimo) you can see which activities are planned and you decide in which order you will tackle them. At the same time, malfunctions can occur at any time. You have to deal with agreed arrival and resolution times, which means that you sometimes have to switch immediately and adjust your planning. After solving a problem, you may simply have to drive to another job in the area. That variety is characteristic of the position.
In addition to troubleshooting, you carry out periodic and inspective maintenance to keep installations in good condition and extend their lifespan. You have regular contact with Rijkswaterstaat for consultation, testing and the delivery of work.
An important part of your work is recording what you do. In Ultimo you register disruptions, analyzes and work carried out, so that colleagues and work preparation can build on this. You spend about a third of your time doing this, often directly on location via your laptop, tablet or telephone.
It is precisely that combination of freedom, responsibility and technical challenge that makes this work interesting. You never know in the morning how your day will go and that is exactly what makes work so much fun.
Requirements
Who we are looking for
For this role we are looking for someone who is energized by technology in practice and enjoys working independently in a dynamic environment. You know that no day is the same and that variety suits you. You can switch when necessary, do not get stressed easily and keep an overview, even if a malfunction arises that requires immediate attention.
You work in a structured way, but understand that practice sometimes requires a different approach. You think in solutions, analyze failures to the core and take responsibility for your work. At the same time, you know when to coordinate with colleagues, work preparation or the customer. Furthermore:
- Do you have at least an MBO-4 diploma in electrical engineering, energy technology, control technology or similar;
- Do you have experience with maintenance and malfunctions of (industrial) technical installations;
- Knowledge of electrical control installations in bridges, locks and/or tunnels is an advantage;
- Do you have a good command of the Dutch language, spoken and written;

About the Company
The infrastructure of the Netherlands never stands still. No more on the water than on the road. Locks and weirs ensure that shipping can flow safely and in a controlled manner, while bridges and traffic installations direct the traffic around them. This may seem obvious, but behind these objects lies a complex world of electrical engineering and control technology that must continue to function reliably.
We are SWARCO Netherlands. We are changing the way people travel: safer, more efficient and more sustainable.
We offer total solutions with software, hardware and services for smart mobility. From the installation and maintenance of public lighting (OVL) and traffic control installations (VRI) in cities, municipalities and provinces, to the remote management and maintenance of tunnels, bridges, locks, traffic control installations and complex traffic management systems, we arrange it for the Netherlands.
In this way, together with our customers, partners and distributors, we shape the mobility of the future in a reliable and proactive manner.
Would you also like to contribute to this? Then this is your chance to become part of our team!
