Role Summary
Advising sales and other specialist and business areas on contractual issues as well as supporting national and international contract negotiations with customers, suppliers and cooperation partners
- Reviewing, drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts, especially in international mechanical and plant engineering
- Assessment of contractual risks and development of strategies to avoid and defend against supplementary claims, claims for damages and contractual penalties
- Creation and further development of contract templates, contract standards and associated processes in close cooperation with the specialist departments
- Further development of the compliance management system and the group-wide risk management system
- Advising management, managers and specialist departments on compliance, governance and risk issues
Identification, assessment and monitoring of significant business risks as well as support for the implementation of regulatory requirements (including supply chain compliance, information security, CRA, NIS2, AI Act, antitrust law, corruption prevention, export control and whistleblower protection)
Coordination of risk analyses, internal controls and audits as well as development of reports, action plans and international training and awareness measures
Requirements
Completed studies in law, business law or a comparable legal qualification, for example first or second state law examination or degree as a business lawyer (m/f/d)
- At least five years of relevant professional experience in a legal department, a commercial law firm or a comparable corporate function
- Profound experience in drafting and negotiating national and international commercial contracts
- Practical experience in contract and claims management, ideally in mechanical and plant engineering or a comparable industrial and project-oriented environment
- Knowledge and practical experience in the areas of compliance, risk management, corporate governance, internal controls or regulatory consulting
- Strong legal expertise combined with a high level of understanding of economic contexts
- Structured, pragmatic and solution-oriented way of working as well as high personal integrity, discretion and professional judgment
- Confident appearance towards management and international stakeholders as well as business fluent written and spoken German and English skills
