Role Summary

We are innovating logistics and we have achieved this thanks to a team of visionary people, eager to grow and change the world.

At Skydropx you will find a space to develop your career within a dynamic, ambitious and multicultural work environment.

As a Senior Rust Developer, you will have the opportunity to technically lead the design and development of services that power our software products, collaborating closely with other developers, architects and the product team. You will be responsible for making high-impact architectural decisions, defining technical standards, and guiding the team in the adoption of modern development methodologies. You will analyze complex needs to design scalable solutions that integrate with our architecture and operating environment, in addition to driving the technical evolution of our products and services.

At Skydropx, AI is a core part of how we build our product. We believe that AI and humans do their jobs better when everyone does what they do best: we leave to AI what is repetitive and what scales poorly with human effort, and we leave to people the decisions that require judgment and responsibility. Although this role is platform engineering, you will be collaborating closely with AI systems and should be comfortable working in that ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new features and critical improvements for our products and services, guaranteeing security, performance and test coverage.
  • Make architectural decisions and propose technical improvements at the system level.
  • Design and implement high-performance components in Rust when efficiency, concurrency or memory safety requirements demand it.
  • Write and review detailed technical documentation, as well as RFCs and design proposals.
  • Resolve technical problems of high complexity and scope, including debugging distributed systems in production.
  • Define and ensure code quality standards, maintainability and best practices at the team level.
  • Provide mentoring to Junior and Mid-level Engineers, helping them grow technically and eliminating obstacles to their autonomy.
  • Lead demanding but constructive code reviews, raising the technical level of the team.
  • Autonomously release powerful features and improvements, coordinating with other teams when necessary.
  • Actively participate in technical planning and in the definition of the engineering roadmap.

Requirements

  • Essential: English B2 or higher.
  • +6 years of experience in software design and Rack application development with Node.JS or Ruby on Rails.
  • Professional experience with Rust in production environments (services, system tools, high-performance components or similar).
  • Solid experience with JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems.
  • Proven experience designing and building microservices and APIs.
  • Deep knowledge of software engineering and best practices for the complete development lifecycle (coding standards, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, testing and operations).
  • Practical experience designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems and highly available client-server architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technically, mentor other engineers, and communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience making trade-off decisions between languages and technologies depending on the requirements of the problem (for example, when to use Rust).
  • To consider:
  • Previous experience working with GCP (or other cloud providers such as AWS or Azure).
  • Experience with Kafka (or other similar technologies) in event-driven systems.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • In-depth knowledge of algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis.
  • Experience with concurrent and asynchronous programming (Tokyo, async/await in Rust).
  • Contributions to open source projects, especially in the Node.JS or Ruby on Rails ecosystem.
  • Experience with observability (tracing, metrics, structured logging).

Benefits

  • Mission at the regional level: ensure that LATAM businesses do not worry about their logistics.
  • Location: Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Venezuela, Panama, Peru.
  • Salary: Competitive and negotiable depending on experience, skills and results of the hiring process.
  • Scheme: 100% remote.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CST (Mexico).
  • With flexible schedule when there are new releases.
  • Professional growth and development.
  • We invite you to accept the challenge!
  • To apply for the vacancy, apply here and we will be happy to achieve our goals with you.
  • If your profile matches the requirements of the vacancy, our recruitment team will contact you.
