Job description

Location:
Renningen, BW, Germany
Work arrangement:
On-site

Role Summary

Passive-ambient smart home sensors offer a unique, data protection-preserving opportunity to continuously monitor health and functional independence in senior living. By analyzing subtle patterns of everyday life (e.g. use of household appliances, room changes, door movements), we can derive digital biomarkers that serve as early indicators of cognitive, metabolic or physical health deteriorations.

As part of our research team, you will delve deeper into ambient sensing, analyze real-world in-home data sets, and support the development of innovative models to assess behavioral health indicators. You will conduct a comprehensive literature review on ambient sensing for healthcare applications. In addition, you will prepare and analyze passive sensor data (activity, presence, power consumption) from our multi-home study cohort. You research, develop, establish and validate mathematical scoring algorithms that consolidate meaningful insights from the data.

In addition, you will examine secondary behavioral biomarkers and develop concepts such as tracking kitchen appliances in the context of nutrition and patterns of mobility during sleep. You will also validate and demonstrate your algorithms in controlled environments, including a health-focused tiny house. Finally, you document research results and code, evaluate the results and prepare them for internal presentations and a possible scientific publication.

Personality and way of working: You are characterized by a methodical problem analysis, structure your work systematically and independently drive projects forward towards central goals

  • Work routine: Your presence on site is required
