Role Summary
Preparation of briquettes and sample preparation for analysis by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) and infrared spectroscopy (IR).
Cutting of briquettes and hand samples of rock and generation of briquettes.
Mechanical preparation described above and qualitative and quantitative characterization of minerals from concentrator plant sampling, geology (debris), explorations (diamond drills), various stocks, from the Chalcobamba – Sulfobamba projects or other Plant and Mine area through: optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, stereomicroscope, X-ray diffraction of whole rock and clays, X-ray fluorescence, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIR) and infrared spectroscopy or other equipment that MMG implements in its characterization laboratory.
Preparation of samples for the analysis of clay types applying the following methods: separation of clay material, saturation with ethylene glycol and calcination at 400°C and 500°C.
Analysis by X-ray diffraction, phase identification and sample refinement using the DIFFRAC.EVA and DIFFRAC.TOPAS software.
Requirements
- Metallurgical Engineer/Chemical/Geologist/Physicist, Physicist or related areas, with a bachelor's degree, graduate or licentiate.
- Demonstrate specialized training in identification and quantification of minerals through Optical Microscopy and X-ray diffraction.
- Experience: Minimum three (03) years working as an X-ray diffraction analyst in the cement industry, Cu-Au-Polymetallic mining industry, or in mineral characterization laboratories by X-ray diffraction or similar industry.
- Experience in identification and quantification of whole rock minerals using DIFFRAC.EVA and DIFFRAC.TOPAS software from BRUKER or another manufacturer.
- Solid knowledge in routine preventive maintenance of X-ray diffraction equipment (D8 ENDEAVOR desirable).
- Solid knowledge in quality assurance regarding sample preparation, sample reading and mineralogical quantification using XRD.
- Microsoft office and Excel intermediate level.
- Basic-intermediate level English.
