Backend Engineer

About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to join our technology team in Dubai. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines to support critical business applications in secure, air-gapped environments.Responsibilities:Design and implement robust backend services using Node.js and ExpressDevelop and maintain RESTful and GraphQL APIsBuild and schedule data workflows using Apache AirflowManage and optimize PostgreSQL databasesContainerize applications with Docker and deploy on Kubernetes clustersConfigure and maintain VMware deployments in air-gapped environmentsImplement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CDCollaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and deliver solutionsEnsure security, compliance, and best practices are followed in all backend systemsMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform capacity planningRequired Qualifications:8–15 years of professional backend engineering experienceExpertise in Node.js and Express frameworkStrong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and GraphQL servicesProficiency with PostgreSQL database design, tuning, and maintenanceHands-on experience building data pipelines with Apache AirflowExperience containerizing applications using Docker and orchestrating with KubernetesProven experience deploying and managing VMware infrastructure in air-gapped environmentsSolid understanding of CI/CD concepts and hands-on experience with GitLab CI/CDDeep knowledge of system architecture, networking, and security best practicesPreferred Qualifications:Experience with AWS or Azure cloud servicesKubernetes certification (CKA, CKAD) or similarFamiliarity with microservices and event-driven architecture patternsExperience mentoring and leading engineering teamsKnowledge of infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, Ansible)Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana
