As a Trait Assessment Technician at Syngenta, you work at the heart of our phytopathological research. In our modern greenhouses, growth rooms and laboratories in Enkhuizen you directly contribute to the development of new, healthy varieties that are grown worldwide. You are part of a committed team of 9 colleagues where collaboration is central and where your eye for detail and critical view really make the difference.
The challenge
In this role you support various activities within phytopathology. You participate in tests with different types of pathogens, such as insects, viruses, bacteria and fungi. From preparing inoculum to inoculating plants: you make an important contribution to the successful execution of these studies.
You assess the health and quality of plants, collect test data and process it in systems such as Excel, Word and Smartsheet. Under the guidance of experienced colleagues, you will develop into an independent employee who can prepare, carry out and assess illness tests.
The department works with more than 40 different pathogens, spread over 8 crops. You gradually develop expertise within a specific part of these pathogens and crops, while at the same time building up a broad basic knowledge. This gives you plenty of room to deepen your knowledge and further develop yourself within phytopathology.
Requirements
To fulfill this position successfully, you recognize yourself in the following:
- Minimum MBO working and thinking level, preferably in a green direction (e.g. botany, horticulture, crop care).
- You have experience with phytopathology and know how to identify deviations in plant health in a timely manner. Experience with plant diseases, pathogens or disease tests is a strong advantage
- A real team player who sees the work, takes initiative and dares to be critical.
You master Dutch and English
Preferably available full-time; 4 days is negotiable
