Role Summary

The development of new active ingredients and products often begins in the laboratory - with exciting questions, careful experiments and precise analyses. As a chemical laboratory technician, you are an important part of this process and help develop new substances, improve existing processes and find innovative solutions.

During your training, you will work in modern laboratories and learn about various chemical processes and analysis methods. You plan and carry out experiments, examine raw materials as well as intermediate and final products and carefully evaluate your results. You will work closely with chemists and engineers and make an important contribution to the development of high-quality products and innovative medicines.

You carry out chemical experiments and learn about different synthesis and analysis methods.

You examine raw materials as well as intermediate and end products using modern measuring and analysis devices.

Together with chemists and laboratory staff, you develop new molecules or improve existing production processes.

You plan experiments, carefully document your results and create meaningful reports.

You will learn how to handle chemical substances safely as well as important requirements for occupational safety, environmental and health protection.

You work with modern technical tools and digital applications in the laboratory.

You will further develop your skills in evaluating, interpreting and presenting test results.

The practical training takes place at our location in Ludwigshafen and takes place in cooperation with BASF SE. You complete the theoretical part in block lessons at the Natural Sciences Vocational School in Ludwigshafen.

Requirements

  • Secondary school leaving certificate, technical college entrance qualification or Abitur with good achievements, especially in the natural sciences
  • Great interest in chemistry, science and mathematics
  • Enthusiasm for chemical relationships, substances and their properties
  • Enjoy experimental work and carefully planned experiments
  • A careful, structured and responsible way of working
  • Ability to work in a team and treat colleagues with respect
  • Interest in modern laboratory procedures, technology and digital applications
