Role Summary

🔒 Port security guard for hazardous substances (HCT)

📍 Location: Port of Rotterdam

💰 €17.37 and €20.70 gross per hour excluding surcharges. Completed HCT training? Scale 5.

📅 80 to 144 hours per 4 weeks on contract

As a hazardous substances port security officer, you are the specialist who guarantees safety at locations where hazardous substances are handled. You are the point of contact in the event of leaks, fire, deviations or incorrect signals. Companies and emergency services rely on your assessment, overview and communication. You work together with experienced colleagues and, if necessary, follow the training course to become a Hazardous Substances Expert.

What are you going to do?

Carrying out container measurements with gas measuring equipment and assessing whether containers are safe to enter.

Supervising high-risk activities in the port area, at shipyards and at (petro)chemical and industrial factories.

Checking Segregation Regulations for Hazardous Substances.

Preventively check for fire safety and unsafe situations.

Colleagues and third parties point out the use of personal protective equipment.

Checking permits and compliance with safety regulations.

Connecting with emergency services and acting as a communicative channel to various parties.

Preparing error-free reports in Dutch and/or English.

Availability of (or willingness to obtain)

VBGS (Professional Competence for Handling Dangerous Substances)

MGK (Medium Gas Measurement Sea Containers)

Willingness to work with fire extinguishing and safety equipment and breathing air (no beard possible).

Requirements

You enjoy working together in a close-knit team, but can also act independently when the situation requires it. Furthermore you have:

You are physically healthy and fit to stand longer and climb stairs during your shift. Occasionally working at height is no problem for you! You also have the following:

• An MBO Security Guard 2 diploma in your possession, or be willing to obtain one
• Command of the Dutch and English language
• A driving license B and car
• You live within a 40KM radius of the port of Rotterdam

• If you are a certified security guard, the salary starts from scale 3 - €17.37 gross (excl. allowances). When you have completed the HCT training, your salary will increase to scale 5 according to the collective labor agreement.
• If you are not yet a certified security guard, the salary starts from scale 2 - €16.63 gross (excl. allowances). When you complete the security and HCT training, your salary increases to scale 5 according to the collective labor agreement.
