Position description

The service technician is responsible for commissioning, servicing, starting up, as well as error diagnosis and troubleshooting of customer-specific developed industrial systems directly at the customer's site. In this role, the individual acts as a technical expert in the field, ensuring equipment is installed and operated according to technical specifications, performance requirements and customer expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Independent troubleshooting and carrying out root cause analysis in the event of malfunctions in industrial heating systems.
  • Review and analysis of programming in PID control loops for single and multi-circuit controllers.
  • Communication and collaboration with plant operators, engineers and technical managers.
  • Assumption of project responsibility for dismantling, new construction and commissioning of new or modernized industrial heating systems.
  • Collaborate with service technicians and management to continuously improve services.
  • Travel within Europe up to 50% (typically several days to two weeks). Occasional global travel is an advantage.

Desired qualifications and characteristics

  • Completed training as an industrial mechatronics engineer, electronics engineer, automation technician or a comparable qualification.
  • Basic knowledge or interest in PLC systems (PLC) and distributed process control systems (DCS).
  • Analytical and structured way of working.
  • Initial relevant professional experience (1–2 years) is desirable, but suitable candidates can also be trained.
  • Basic understanding or strong interest in industrial heating systems as well as mechanical and electrical measuring devices.
  • Knowledge of combustion processes and industrial heating processes for analyzing system malfunctions is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of the combustion of various fuels such as natural gas, propane, oil, blast furnace gas and coke oven gas is an advantage.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical circuit diagrams.
  • Basic mathematical knowledge, including algebra.
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to calibrate and use various mechanical and electrical measuring devices and analyze their data.
  • Basic knowledge of using, programming and troubleshooting PLCs (PLCs) and process control systems (DCSs) is an advantage.
  • General knowledge of safety requirements in industrial work environments.
  • Confident use of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel).
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English.
