Role Summary

The purpose of your position is

to ensure the well-being and care of animals in optimal study accommodation conditions.

  • to ensure the techniques of restraint, administration and sampling on the species of his unit and the acquisition of data according to the study plan
  • to ensure all or part of the specific techniques of reproduction studies, anesthesia, asepsis, surgery and monitoring of perfusion studies
  • to assume the role of study supervisor

Responsibilities

You will also need to ensure

  • Accommodation
  • control and reception of animals and the corresponding documentation
  • ensure randomization and batching of animals
  • cleaning of accommodation rooms in accordance with PSO
  • monitoring the food and water behaviors of the animals following the study plan
  • use materials adapted to the needs of the study
  • check the adequacy of accommodation conditions with the PSOs and inform the unit manager in the event of an anomaly
  • Well-being, hygiene, prophylaxis
  • control the growth of animals being studied
  • ensure the care and treatments prescribed by the veterinarian in the clinical and/or prophylactic context
  • ensure behavioral testing in reproduction and toxicology studies
  • Studies
  • Ensure clinical observations,
  • Establish request forms for galenic preparations,
  • Receive, weigh and check the galenic preparations before and after use,
  • Ensure all restraints of species housed in your unit,
  • Ensure all administration and sampling procedures on all species in the animal unit,
  • Ensure all or part of the specific techniques relating to reproduction studies
  • Ensure anesthesia, asepsis and surgical procedures for catheter implantation as well as post-operative care,
  • Ensure all techniques and controls relating to perfusion studies,
  • Perform pupillary reflexes and threat reflexes.
  • Participate in the recording of cardiovascular parameters.
  • Perform euthanasia (after training by the veterinarian)
  • Documentation/Data
  • Ensure the acquisition of handwritten study data alone or using a computer system,
  • Calculate and/or control the quantities on the administration sheets (volume, weight, unit)
  • Prepare animal reception books,
  • Ensure the daily execution of all standard study procedures for which he is responsible,
  • Transcribe a schedule of actions to be carried out on a study,

Prepare tables for data acquisition according to models.

  • Ensure the compilation of study data,
  • Archive data not linked to studies,
  • Quality, Regulation
  • Rigorously apply Standard Operating Procedures,

Respect ethical and safety standards.

  • The incumbent may also perform all or part of the following tasks:
  • Manage anesthetics, veterinary pharmacy,
  • Manage and ensure the monitoring and maintenance of anesthesia equipment
  • Ensure orders for consumables
  • Ensure animal records are kept
  • Ensure reading of the PSOs; classify and archive the files
  • Punctually check the study timeline at the end of the day
  • Participate in training for technical acts over which he or she has control, at the request of the training manager

Requirements

  • You have a minimum Baccalaureate level (BTA or general baccalaureate) or equivalent professional experience.
  • You must hold Specific Training in Animal Experimentation Level II (FSEA II)
  • Training in surgery is desired.
  • You master technical procedures on living beings and you are in permanent contact with laboratory animals. You are respectful of ethical standards and standard operating procedures.
  • With good interpersonal skills, you have team spirit and a sense of service.

Benefits

Remuneration based on profile and experience

Mileage allowances (home - work) + 13th month

Possibility of position during the week or weekend (Friday to Monday).
