Job Description Summary

The diagnostic technician (all genders) is a technical expert in carrying out electrical and mechanical tests as part of service projects on hydroelectric generators. The role combines specialized field operations with project-related technical support. The diagnostic technician ensures that diagnostic activities throughout the entire project life cycle - from the offer and order phase to order processing - meet the defined requirements for quality, costs and lead times.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Carrying out electrical and mechanical measurements, tests and visual inspections at customer sites as well as during manufacturing and acceptance tests according to predefined programs and instructions.
  • Independent preparation and execution of measurements, tests and inspections based on technical requirements as well as ensuring the availability and readiness for use of certified testing devices.
  • Present and explain inspection reports - including findings, analyzes and recommendations - to customers and internal partners.
  • Support in creating offers for diagnostic activities.
  • Preparation of inspection reports, including evaluation and archiving of the results.
  • Carrying out damage or defect analyses.
  • Active knowledge transfer within the team as well as participation in the identification and implementation of optimization potential.
  • Work in compliance with local and international safety standards as well as consistent compliance with EHS (environmental/health/safety) guidelines and legal requirements.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Completed vocational training in the field of electrical engineering or a comparable technical subject. Further training, for example as a technician, is an advantage. Equivalent qualifications or in-depth experience in the production and assembly of generators or comparable products are also welcome.
  • Demonstrated experience in electrical (preferred) or mechanical diagnostics/measuring technology, commissioning or a similar function.
  • Experience with electrical systems and rotating electrical machines is desirable. Experience in hydropower is a plus.
  • High sense of responsibility and high standards in the areas of EHS, quality, costs and adherence to deadlines.
  • Strong service and customer orientation, an open demeanor and the ability to respond flexibly to requirements and build sustainable customer relationships.
  • Fluent German and English skills
  • Positive mindset, high reliability and confidence even in challenging situations.
  • Ability to move confidently in an international and multicultural environment and to work successfully with different contacts.
  • Team player mentality with the ability to work cooperatively, committedly and goal-oriented with others.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally (more than 70% of working hours, focus on Switzerland)
