Responsibilities
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Guide, motivate and develop a team of software developers who solve complex problems in the financial services domain.
- Directly and indirectly manage a team in collaboration with a Technical Lead Staff Engineer, while providing mentoring.
- Work closely with architects, product teams, engineering leaders and stakeholders to align priorities and roadmaps.
- Identify, communicate and address delivery barriers and risks, both within the team and across the entire financial services organization.
- Plan and support the professional development of team members, including through individual meetings, performance evaluations, continuous feedback, goal setting and promotions.
- Regularly communicate team progress and status to engineering leaders and stakeholders.
- Attract, recruit and hire the best talent for your team and the organization.
- Provide technical and methodological advice to the team throughout the projects.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM
- Experience in managing teams of developers and successfully delivering software products.
- Experience in developing and delivering scalable cloud applications based on microservices architecture.
- Excellent command of Java or TypeScript.
- Professional experience in Agile methodologies and Continuous Delivery practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Ability to support, supervise and advance individuals and teams.
- Strong passion for continuous learning and constant improvement.

- Lightspeed Financial Services is seeking a Software Development Manager in North America to develop and lead our technical team within the Financial Services organization.
Reporting to the Director, Financial Services Foundations, you will play a key role in leading, mentoring and developing a high-performing software development team, while fostering an inclusive and inspiring work culture. Through your leadership, the team will deliver financial products and services critical to Lightspeed's long-term vision and growth.
We are looking for a leader with demonstrable strong technical expertise who can earn the respect of developers through their knowledge and experience. You have proven experience in coaching, mentoring, managing and developing development teams, as well as delivering large-scale cloud software systems. You enjoy solving problems, removing obstacles to team progress, and collaborating closely with Product teams and stakeholders. You are an effective communicator, able to set clear direction and monitor the progress of deliveries in a distributed, dynamic and constantly evolving Agile environment.
For this position, you must be based in Canada and available to work Eastern Times (EST/EDT). We offer the flexibility to work in fully remote, hybrid or in-person mode (in cities where we have offices).
ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES
- Experience in the field of payments.
- Experience in designing scalable SaaS solutions.

- Good knowledge of cloud services, including AWS and GCP.
