Role Summary

The Lightspeed Data Office team is looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to design and manage the data models that power decision-making around financial performance, Go-To-Market (GTM) activities and product analytics. You will collaborate with the Finance, Revenue Operations, Marketing and Product teams to build the analytical foundations on which the business is built.

If you enjoy building data pipelines that support real business decisions and designing master data models that unify fragmented source systems from multiple CRMs, ERPs and product platforms, this role is for you. You are able to discuss with Finance teams on revenue recognition or with Product teams on activation funnels, then transform these needs into clear and robust data models. You maintain high standards of quality, know how to question requests constructively when necessary and do not wait until a problem is perfectly defined to act.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Design and develop the data models that power the company's activities: financial reporting (GTV, MRR, revenue recognition), GTM analytics as well as product and operational analyses.
  • Design scalable and maintainable solutions while remaining pragmatic, delivering value incrementally and iterating based on user feedback.
  • Transform ambiguous business needs from Finance, Revenue Operations, Marketing and Product teams into well-defined technical solutions with realistic effort estimates.
  • Collaborate within our Hub & Spoke architecture with upstream data ownership teams, downstream Looker/LookML developers and other areas (Retail, Hospitality, Operations) in order to design end-to-end models.
  • Consider documentation as an essential deliverable: column descriptions, model contracts and architectural documentation intended for both humans and AI/LLM-assisted workflows.
  • Identify the root causes of problems and implement systemic solutions rather than one-off fixes.
  • Ensure the health of end-to-end data pipelines: proactive monitoring, incident management and identification of risks before they affect deliveries.
  • Autonomously manage your sprint commitments and contribute to team planning (task breakdown, effort estimation and prioritization).
  • Support more junior engineers through mentoring, code reviews and technical sessions, while establishing the team's quality standards.

WHAT EXPECTS YOU

  • True autonomy: you will be responsible for the reference data models used by the company's managers.
  • A modern and well-maintained technology stack (Dataform, BigQuery, Looker, GitHub Actions, OpenCode) with continued investments in the developer experience.
  • Experienced colleagues who value quality, rewarding code reviews and the time it takes to do things right.
  • Direct visibility on the impact of your work with the CFO, GTM teams and Product teams.
  • The opportunity to join a growing Data organization within a public company based in Montreal.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM

  • Advanced SQL expertise: performance optimization, clean and maintainable code, and advanced analytical techniques (window functions, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience building enterprise-grade dimensional models on modern cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake, including partitioning, incremental strategies and performance optimization.
  • Hands-on experience in modeling SaaS, CRM or ERP systems such as Salesforce or NetSuite, with an excellent understanding of transforming their object models into clean dimensional diagrams.
  • Proven expertise with Dataform or dbt in production: materializations, incremental strategies, snapshots and macros.
  • Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders to clarify requirements, present trade-offs and achieve necessary alignment.
  • Strong sensitivity to security and compliance: GDPR, SOX and data access controls are an integral part of the role.

ADDITIONAL ADVANTAGES

  • CI/CD experience (e.g. GitHub Actions): automated testing, linting and deployment.
  • Knowledge of Python or JavaScript for data engineering tools.
  • Experience with LookML or an equivalent semantic layer.
  • Familiarity with data contracts for pipeline validation.
  • Experience with AI/LLM-assisted tools to accelerate development: code generation, documentation, debugging or code review.
  • Knowledge of the financial and revenue fields (ARR, MRR, NetSuite, revenue arrangements).

Benefits

You will benefit from

  • A flexible working environment that promotes your success.
  • From a culture that celebrates performance.
  • An environment offering both opportunities for growth and the possibility of having real influence.
  • Determining career opportunities.
