Role Summary

Good morning! Thank you for your visit đź‘‹

The Product Operations and Technology team is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to join and support the integration of the Product Development Lifecycle (PDLC) within a shared execution model between Product, Engineering and Design.

You will be responsible for the workflow from idea to organization-wide impact: a single language for the workflow, a set of trusted metrics for management, and a single standard to define excellence at each stage of the PDLC. This is a founding role for this function. You will define the model, rally stakeholders around it, and prove its value as you create it.

Responsibilities

Set execution model

  • Design a framework for PDLC that works for product, engineering and design, as well as across Lightspeed's products.
  • Define what excellence represents at each stage of the PDLC, including deliverables, control points and exit criteria to be used by the teams.

Building the measurement system

  • Establish metrics providing management with a global and reliable view of workflow and blocking points.
  • Design the framework to measure the system and highlight bottlenecks, rather than individual performance. Integrate exception tracking to make blocked or overdue work visible quickly.

Driving adoption

  • Work in partnership with the product, engineering and design leadership of each vertical to align the vision of the model, generate real interest and drive adoption.
  • Manage real differences between provincial/vertical sectors and business units without imposing artificial uniformity where this is not relevant.
  • Provide structure in the face of ambiguity — resolve open questions as they emerge rather than waiting for perfect specifications.

Develop an AI-driven PDLC

  • Define what is human versus AI agent responsibility at each stage of the PDLC, keeping judgment, accountability, and any irreversible or public-facing aspects in the hands of staff.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to target steps where AI agents can accelerate delivery, develop pilot projects and measure their ROI and effect on execution speed.
  • Ensure that human checkpoints constitute real decision-making and not just formal approval as adoption progresses.

Evolve the model

  • Treat the framework as a living system — review it periodically and adapt it based on actual results.
  • Present the health of the program and its progress to senior management.

What you should bring

  • Experience designing or significantly evolving a delivery framework, delivery model or program management system — not just operating a system designed by others.
  • Experience in managing operational change with multidisciplinary teams, including the ability to transform skepticism into genuine support.
  • Demonstrated track record in creating measurement systems from ambiguous or uneven data, as well as prioritizing issues to be resolved as a priority.
  • Experience in partnership with engineering in applied AI or automation, including evaluating and measuring the real acceleration of deliveries in a concrete way.
  • Strong strategic communication skills — ability to credibly present program health, risks and trade-offs to senior management.
  • Proven ability to influence and align higher level stakeholders within product, engineering and design, without direct line authority.
  • An ease in working in a very ambiguous context and in autonomously charting the path to follow rather than waiting for directives.

You will be the ideal person for this role if you...

  • Like to build a project from a blank page rather than optimize an existing system.
  • Know how to maintain a strong vision of “what excellence represents” while remaining attentive to data and staff feedback.
  • Find your energy in aligning stakeholders with varied perspectives, viewpoints and backgrounds.
  • Think in terms of overall systems and flows rather than individual tickets or isolated teams.

Benefits

You will be able to benefit from

  • a flexible working environment that will allow you to give the best of yourself
  • a culture that celebrates performance
  • the opportunity to have an impact within a team large enough to grow professionally, but agile enough for your voice to be heard

  • Lightspeed is proud to be an equal opportunity employer and is committed to creating an inclusive, barrier-free workplace.
  • Lightspeed welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities. Accommodations are available upon request for applicants participating in all aspects of the selection process.
