About the position

The BRP BI team is looking for a Senior Consultant / Power BI Expert specialized in geospatial data visualization and interactive mapping.

The mandate aims to upgrade an existing mapping solution developed in Power BI with the custom visual Mapbox. The consultant will have to improve the display of geographic data, navigation, drill-down functionalities as well as the general customization of the maps.

The desired profile must be quickly operational and have advanced expertise in Power BI, Mapbox and Advanced Data Visualization, as well as good experience with geospatial formats and tools such as GeoJSON, TopoJSON, ArcGIS or MapInfo.

Technical requirements and skills

Develop two levels of drill-down

Level 1: display of the borders of the dealer's PMA.

Level 2: drill-down to the ZIP codes making up the PMA.

Create and customize maps in Power BI or other appropriate mapping tools.

Implement a color coding system to visually differentiate areas.

Optimize the use of GeoJSON / TopoJSON structures.

Advise the BI team on geospatial visualization possibilities beyond native Power BI capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing Power BI mapping solution.
• Design and develop enhancements to the custom visual Mapbox.
• Develop interactive maps allowing different levels of navigation and detail.
• Configure zoom levels and information displayed according to geographic level.
• Manipulate and integrate GeoJSON and TopoJSON data.
• Work with ZIP codes, borders, PMA and other geographic data.
• Develop drill-down mechanisms between the different geographic levels.
• Implement rules for color coding and visual representation of data.
• Improve readability and user browsing experience.
• Advise the BI team on the best mapping approaches and technologies.
• Propose custom visualization solutions adapted to the limitations or specific needs of Power BI.
• Support the team in the design and production of different cards.

Requirements

• Advanced expertise in Microsoft Power BI.
• Expertise in advanced data visualization.
• Concrete experience in cartography and geospatial visualization.
• Expertise with Mapbox, particularly in a Power BI environment.
• Experience with ArcGIS and/or MapInfo.
• Good knowledge of GeoJSON and TopoJSON geographic data structures.
• Experience in designing and customizing interactive maps.

• Ability to develop color coding mechanisms based on the data represented.

• Advanced experience specifically combining Power BI + Mapbox.
