Job Overview
Job description
your role
So that you know what you are getting into: The role is a real engineering position, not a middleware configurator role. You build the Personal.manager (PM) integration layer on the NodeJS/PostgreSQL side — with your own REST API, outbox, worker and event bus — and connect it programmatically to the target systems via the SAP Integration Suite. Anyone who has predominantly configured existing interfaces in CPI/PI/PO in recent years will find a different type of work here.
Personal.manager digitizes service and personnel planning in the healthcare sector. In order for our platform to work in real clinical environments, it must interact cleanly with SAP HCM and other enterprise systems, via the SAP Integration Suite and a DMZ gateway.
The architectural target image is: own integration layer in the NodeJS/PostgreSQL backend, REST API plus asynchronous events and webhooks, DB outbox + worker, EMQX as an internal bus, functional domain cuts, idempotency, retry, dead letter, audit log, versioned payload contracts.
You fill this target image with implementation — on our side in TypeScript, and on the SAP Integration Suite side programmatically where code is the right answer.
You are the technical owner for the entire integration domain — architecture, code, standards, testing, acceptance, operations. No lead/hands-on separation, no team under you. If you prefer to build integrations yourself rather than review them, that's your role.
you will do that
On PM side (NodeJS, TypeScript, PostgreSQL)
REST endpoints for master data and lookups, event and webhook extraction for movement data (absences, time bookings, rosters, quotas, payroll-relevant status changes)
DB outbox pattern, worker logic, retry and dead letter handling
Connection to EMQX as an internal event bus
Versioned payload contracts and auditable integration history
On the SAP Integration Suite side
Implement flows programmatically, custom scripts, adapter logic, transformations
Keep mappings PM ↔ SAP testable and versionable
Building clean error channels, technical coordination with our customers' SAP teams
Interfaces are cut along functional domains, master data, time/absence, planning, reporting/billing, not along technical tables.
you bring that with you
You program every day.
You routinely build REST APIs and event-based integrations in NodeJS/TypeScript (or a comparable stack).
You are familiar with PostgreSQL.
You know the tools of robust integrations from your own practice: outbox patterns, idempotence, retry strategies, dead letter queues, webhooks, MQTT/AMQP brokers (EMQX, RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.), structured logging, correlation IDs, versioned contracts.
You think of interfaces as a system with clear contracts.
An integration is only “finished” for you when it runs at night without you, recovers from errors and makes transparent what happened.
Particularly helpful
Experience with the SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration / CPI), especially with its programmatic extension points (Groovy scripting, custom adapters, own flow logic)
Regulated customer environments, DMZ gateways, audit-proof logging
SaaS platform architectures, API design, event-based architectures
You don't have to be an SAP specialist. It is crucial that you program integrations cleanly - not click them together.
that's what we offer you
Short paths, real freedom of design, direct connection to the product and decision
100% remote, hybrid or on-site in St. Wendel
Fair salary commensurate with experience and responsibility
30 days vacation
Modern office with shower, washing machine and portafilter machine
application
We look forward to your CV and a few references to projects in which you have implemented interfaces, APIs or event-based integrations yourself. Code examples or repos are expressly welcome.
