To strengthen our Life Safety team in Germany, we are looking for a Sales Engineer for Emergency Lighting Systems (m/f/d) with the following tasks:
Sales area: Postal code areas 35, 42, 44, 51, 57, 58 (Marburg, Gießen, Wuppertal, Dortmund, Siegen, Lüdenscheid).
Responsibilities
- The Associate Sales Engineer Emergency Lighting Systems (m/f/d) is a commercially oriented, supporting role in the implementation phase (Level 2) within the C&I Project Sales structure. You will be responsible for assisting in securing and servicing Eaton-specified tenders during project delivery.
- As the central contact for installers, end customers and general contractors, you ensure that specified projects are implemented as planned. At the same time, you will support the identification and tracking of projects that were not originally specified by Eaton.
Your tasks also include
- Building and maintaining a strong network of stakeholders in the execution phase
- Identifying new business opportunities and influencing specifications to benefit Eaton
- Support commercial activities (e.g. pricing, coordination with internal teams, sharing project-related information)
- Avoiding specification deviations (“spec-breaking”) and ensuring Eaton’s added value in the final project implementation
- Another goal of the position is to place Eaton products and solutions in tenders to increase market presence and chances of winning.
- The role works closely with various internal functions with the aim of building application expertise and developing systems to meet complex customer requirements.
- Building new customer relationships (especially planners, engineering offices, end customers, executing companies and installers) as well as maintaining existing contacts
- Early influence on planning and engineering offices with a focus on “spec-in” in the project business
- Development of technical solutions in the area of emergency lighting and lighting planning (including creation of tenders/lists of services)
- Presentation of innovative solutions with a technical and solution-oriented focus
- Coordinate specified projects with sales support teams and partners
- Identification of all relevant project participants as well as important dates (e.g. tenders, awards)
- Use of synergies and active integration of relevant sales channels
- Integration of Quotation Factory / Specification Engineering / Engineering Back Office
- Control of commercial aspects in the offer process
- Conducting “Lunch & Learn” sessions and technical training (CPD)
- Development and presentation of economically viable and specification-compliant solutions
- Pipeline management (including opportunity and offer management)
- Contract negotiations within the framework of the defined authorizations
Requirements
- Completed studies in electrical engineering or training as a state-certified technician or master craftsman, ideally with additional training as an industrial electrician for energy systems
- 3-5 years of professional experience with in-depth basic knowledge of electrical distribution systems and network topologies
- Initial practical experience in C&I building projects or a comparable technical environment is an advantage

- In-depth knowledge of emergency lighting systems and relevant regulations
- Ability to listen, ask targeted questions and understand customer needs
- Ability to convey complex technical content in an understandable manner
- Strong customer orientation
- Initiative, entrepreneurial thinking and creative problem-solving skills
- Fluent German skills and good written and spoken English skills
