Responsibilities

A selection of your tasks

  • “Knowledge is Key”, after a number of training days at the head office, supplemented with external training; you accompany the lead auditor to translate your acquired knowledge into “the field”.
  • After this training period, you are ready to start working independently. You leave home for your first customer. Too bad, there are a number of non-conformities in your audit. You present this to the customer in a calm manner. Annoying, but it's part of the job.
  • After your audit that day, you leave for home and think about how you are going to convert your notes into a substantiated audit report.
  • You report directly to the operations manager. You sit together with him to discuss your performance.
  • Your role: as a Food Safety Auditor you feel at home in the food industry and offer your expertise

Your role (provided you also have sufficient work experience in the organic agriculture and food sector): responsible for the technical management of our certification activities regarding organic production and acting as the “figurehead” of SGS in BIO-land and representative towards our market parties.

Requirements

  • You followed a higher academic education in a scientific direction, such as food technologies or biochemistry.
  • You can supplement this academic background with several years of work experience in a quality management position in the food industry, in other words you know the difference between IFS and BRC.
  • You don't like sitting on a desk and you like to have a different view. In other words, you are not afraid of moving and changing environments. You are in possession of a valid driver's license.
  • You like to work independently, you have a great sense of responsibility and you like to get stuck into technical files.
  • You are communicative and customer-oriented, especially when the customer's system does not meet your audit.
  • Your nickname is “accuracy,” and it shows in the reports you create.

You can easily switch from 'good afternoon' to 'bonjour'

Additional requirements In case of interest in technical management of our activities in the organic sector:

At least two years of work experience in the organic (agricultural/food) sector. Such experience may include scientific work, consultancy, production/operation, certification/inspection activities. Familiar with the practical implementation of requirements included in applicable European and regional regulations regarding organic production and labeling of organic products.

Benefits

Were you already thinking about your career? Maybe this is the next step. Within SGS you can count on a responsible position, a friendly team of colleagues and an attractive salary package completely adapted to your knowledge and experience (think of company car, meal vouchers, expense reimbursement, group insurance, etc...)

About the Company

At SGS you can choose. First of all, from our various vacancies. But you have another choice at SGS. Do you choose to deepen or do you choose to enrich? We are not only looking for colleagues who go into the depth of their field. We are equally looking for connectors, colleagues who can link our impressive diversity of services. To each other. And thus enrich our services.

SGS is the world leader in inspection, control, analysis and certification. In fact, we are the global benchmark for quality and integrity. We are incredibly proud of that. Just like our more than 100,000 colleagues who assist our customers worldwide, or how about our 1,850 employees in Belgium alone? Spread across expertise, industries and cultures, our employees give 110% of themselves every day. Our employees are building their own path within services and expertise.

We also do this within our specialized Business Assurance division. We focus on in-depth audits. These include audits in food, medical devices, forestry, non-food, etc.

Because we want to deepen and enrich much more, we are looking for an enthusiastic Food Safety Auditor for this division at our head office in Antwerp.
