Role Summary

Work summary

This development technology leadership position develops and delivers technical talent in research, technology, or product development. Directly manage resources to maximize work group productivity, support business needs, and implement (primarily execute) near-term business strategies. The position is also responsible for maintaining good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within the technical function and the wider business.

Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility is to develop technical personnel across multiple technical sites within a business unit or enterprise and enable these personnel to perform the duties necessary to meet the technical needs of the enterprise.
  • Provides problem-solving guidance for complex systems with high levels of ambiguity and often global business impact; helps prepare teams.
  • Lead the development and improvement of work processes and systems within a global business unit function or management improvements across all business units.
  • Trains and coaches employees to provide guidance and guidance on problem solving, technical know-how, removing barriers to advancement, and career path planning. Evaluate performance of direct reports and provide feedback.
  • Create, manage, improve, and apply workflows involving resource allocation and management, organizational and business change, customer/stakeholder management, and knowledge management to achieve high-quality decisions that meet business expectations.
  • Decisions made in this position may include resource deployment cost and time allocation, project prioritization, staffing and annual operating plan (AOP) management, the results of which may impact project cost and delivery within a site or across several sites within a division.
  • Establish employee performance standards; collaborate to set goals and address shortcomings.
  • As a technical team manager, lead the team to develop energy storage products for data centers and industrial and commercial applications.
  • Have at least 5 years of product development or related engineering technology work experience in any of the following fields:
  • Energy storage system development and integration
  • Energy storage or power lithium batteries, or related fields
  • PCS converter or related power electronics field
  • Excellent English communication skills, able to speak, listen, read and write fluently in English
  • Candidates with team management experience are preferred
  • Electrical engineering, power electronics, control and automation, etc.

Product Development Execution, Monitoring and Control - Plans, schedules, coordinates and executes activities involved in developing products to meet the requirements hierarchy and technology profile accordingly; monitors and communicates across functional boundaries to meet project resource and quality expectations; ensures product capabilities meet or exceed expectations and takes mitigating actions when project risks are higher than expected; understands the complete product life cycle process and stakeholders.

Product Validation and Certification Management - Develop product system validation plans based on a variety of inputs to identify failure modes while managing product risks and relative priorities; negotiate product requirements based on capabilities to guide project scope; evaluate analytical, simulation, and physical test results to verify product capabilities and validation requirements; evaluate the functionality of legacy system solutions versus proposed system solutions and use technical documentation to make recommendations to support product decisions.

System Requirements Engineering - Utilizes appropriate methods and tools to translate stakeholder requirements into verifiable requirements for development designs; determines acceptance criteria for involved systems through analysis, assignment, and negotiation; tracks requirements status throughout the system life cycle; evaluates the impact of changes in system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources; creates and maintains information associated with related artifacts.

  • Technical Documentation - Provides documented information based on knowledge gained as part of the technical function's activities; communicates with stakeholders with the goal of increasing technical productivity and effectively transferring knowledge to those without first-hand experience.

Education, Qualifications, Certifications

  • Associate's degree, undergraduate degree, or equivalent bachelor's degree in engineering or corresponding STEM field required.
  • Certain positions may require a graduate (master's) degree related to the specialty area.
  • This position may require a license related to compliance with export control or sanctions regulations.

Previous technical specialist or entry-level technical/engineering management equivalent experience in a product, technical or engineering services position with proven success in leading projects and influencing outcomes through direct or indirect reporting relationships. Must have a proven track record of resolving technical issues, making quality decisions, providing technical guidance and leadership to project teams, and resolving conflicts.
