Role Summary
- Job Title: Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to provide a highly specialist service within an acute hospital setting in South Yorkshire. This role focuses on supporting adults presenting with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia.
You will play a vital role within the multidisciplinary team, delivering expert assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with complex needs. This opportunity is well suited to a Band 6 or Band 7 clinician who is confident working independently in an acute environment and passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.
- Provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for patients within an acute hospital setting.
- Offer specialist clinical advice and support to the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Manage and prioritise a complex clinical caseload independently.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with service and professional standards.
- Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.

Requirements
To be considered for this role, you must have
- A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
- HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
- Proven experience working with adults with dysphagia and communication disorders in an acute or hospital setting.
- Strong clinical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
