Senior Data QA Developer

Responsibilities

• Design Data Quality Frameworks: Design and build automated and robust test suites for data pipelines using Python and SQL to validate data integrity, schema consistency, and transformation logic.
• “Shift Left” approach: Team up with data developers and product managers at the design stage to define data contracts, quality gates, and acceptance criteria before code is even written.
• Over-automate: Develop automated “Data-SLA” monitors and observability signals (e.g. Great Expectations, Monte Carlo or custom Python tools) to detect anomalies in BigQuery and Airflow before they affect downstream reporting.
• Complex Validation: Perform in-depth validation of complex ELT/ETL processes, ensuring high-performance datasets optimized for Power BI and internal analytics are accurate and secure.
• CI/CD Integration: Implement and maintain data-specific testing within our Git-based CI/CD flows (using Pulumi/Terraform), ensuring each deployment is supported by automated regression.
• Continuous Improvement: Take overall responsibility for data quality outcomes, improving documentation, data governance and team workflows to make our development process smoother and more reliable.

Profile sought

• Experience: 5+ years of experience in data QA, with a particular focus on testing complex SaaS/cloud data environments.
• Technical proficiency: Strong skills in Python and SQL. You approach QA with a software engineering mindset, writing clean, maintainable automation code.
• Modern Tech Stack: Hands-on experience with GCP (BigQuery) and orchestration tools like Airflow.
• Infrastructure-as-Code: Familiarity with Pulumi or Terraform is a major asset.
• Analytical rigor: Deep understanding of data modeling, dimensional design and ability to diagnose performance bottlenecks in SQL execution plans.
• Startup Mentality: You are self-starter, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are comfortable with the occasional uncertainty of a hyper-growth startup.
• Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related technical field.

You will work closely with data developers to ensure our BigQuery environments, Airflow DAGs, DBT models, and ETL processes are foolproof.
