About the team

The IAM (Identity and Access Management) team is responsible for identity, authentication and authorization at nesto. We are part of the core platform: the teams that develop products across nesto are our customers, and our role is to provide them with a solid foundation of identity and access on which they can build with confidence. Our work includes identity providers, authentication flows, authorization models, policy enforcement, and tools used by product teams to securely manage access. We establish common standards and supported models so that access control is consistent, scalable, and easier for engineering teams to adopt. Our work touches almost every product at nesto and carries real responsibility for safety and compliance. We are moving quickly, but without ever skipping steps. Our team is still relatively new to nesto, which means that how we operate and how the rest of the organization adopts what we design is still shaping itself. The person who leads this team will have a direct and significant influence on this evolution.

About the role

We are looking for an Engineering Team Leader to lead the IAM team and help shape the evolution of identity and access capabilities within nesto. You will be responsible for team members, deliverables and the daily health of the team, which includes recruiting, coaching, performance management and career development. You will stay close enough to technical work to guide decisions, identify risks, and help the team evaluate tradeoffs. You won't need to be the lead architect or write code on a regular basis. You will work closely with engineers and technical leaders to make informed decisions and advance the platform. IAM work crosses product and team boundaries. You will coordinate dependencies, clarify responsibilities, manage delivery risks, and ensure teams remain aligned on scope, sequencing, and expectations. You will work in close partnership with a Product Manager and a Senior Engineer, and report to the Engineering Manager.

Your responsibilities

Lead and develop a team of engineers through recruitment, regular individual meetings, coaching, performance management and career development.

Create an environment where expectations are clear, feedback is direct, and where engineers can accomplish quality work while advancing their careers.

Take responsibility for the team's deliverables and operational rhythm, ensuring that priorities, scope, risks, dependencies and timelines remain visible and realistic.

Collaborate with a Product Manager and Principal Engineer to define the IAM strategy, roadmap, and technical direction.

Guide technical decisions around identity, authentication and authorization, while relying on the expertise of engineers and technical partners.
