Product Manager - Digital Electrical Substations

We are looking for an innovative and experienced leader to drive the vision, strategy and execution of our digital and conventional substation automation solutions. The Product Manager will be responsible for defining the direction of the substation automation portfolio, ensuring its competitive differentiation and driving its growth in global markets. This role requires a unique combination of technical expertise, market knowledge and leadership abilities to align cross-functional teams and deliver high-value solutions to our clients.

Scope

The Product Manager - Digital Substations drives the overall business strategy for digital and conventional substation automation solutions within the Grid Automation & Software (GA&S) division, focusing on market demand, product management and technology differentiation. GA&S Substation Automation Solutions (SAS) includes DS Agile™, GridBeats™ iDS, as well as all conventional and digital architectures providing SAS solutions to the power transportation segment. The Product Manager will be responsible for aligning, coordinating and providing input to all other product managers responsible for conventional and innovative protection relays/controllers, as well as the Solution Architecture Manager for transportation protection, automation and control (PAC). He/she will also be the preferred contact for the Distribution and Industry (D&I) portfolio manager to ensure alignment with the strategy and global architectures. The individual will have direct responsibility for the GridBeats™ ICT and SCT engineering tool suites and DS Agile product roadmaps.

The Product Manager - Digital Substations will report directly to the Transmission PAC Portfolio Manager, overseeing the industrialization, go-to-market strategy and business development of the portfolio, interacting with Grid Automation & Software supply chain, regions, customers and industry leaders. He/she will also interact within GE Vernova, Electrification segments and Grid teams to maximize collaboration, cross-company initiatives, impact and performance.

Scope

The Digital Substation Product Manager drives the overall business strategy of the digital and conventional substation automation solutions within Grid Automation & Software, focusing on market demand, product management, and technology differentiation. GA&S substation automation solutions (SAS) include DS AgileTM, GridBeatsTM iDS and all conventional and digital architectures which deliver SAS to the transmission segment. The Digital Substation Product Manager will be responsible to align, coordinate and provide inputs to all other PMs responsible for conventional and innovative protection relays/controllers, similarly with the Solution Architect Leader for Transmission Protection, Automation and Control (PAC). He/she will also be the interface for the Distribution and Industry (D&I) Portfolio Leader to align on the overall strategy and architectures. The individual will have direct responsibility over the GridBeatsTM ICT and SCT engineering toolsuite and DS Agile product roadmaps.

The Digital Substation Product Manager will report directly to the Transmission PAC Portfolio Leader overseeing the industrialization, go to market strategy and commercial development of the portfolio, interacting with Grid Automation & Software's supply chain, regions, customers, and industry leaders. He/she will also interact within the broader GE Vernova, Electrification segment and Grid teams to maximize collaboration, cross-business initiatives, impact, and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop customer relationships, understand industry trends and growth opportunities for associated segments.
  • Define strategies for digital workstations and centralized protection and control systems, the product/solution roadmap and profitability studies (business cases).
  • Drive technological differentiation and the roadmap, in coordination with the GA&S CTO organization.
  • Manage the lifecycle of products and solutions, in coordination with GA&S regions and the global supply chain.
  • Collaborate with GA&S regions to define marketing, business growth, delivery and service strategies.
  • Build an effective organizational structure and diverse teams. Develop talents and skills to support individual development, maximize business performance and create a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Develop internal and external relationships to identify, lead or support cross-functional initiatives and projects.
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of GA&S's long-term strategy, in coordination with the GA&S CTO organization.
  • Propose partnerships and acquisitions to support growth initiatives.
  • Lead strategic client engagements, senior executive presentations and solution positioning for key tenders and framework agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and certifications (e.g. IEC, IEEE, cybersecurity standards) and support regulatory qualification efforts.
  • Drive installed base strategy, including upgrades, migration paths, retrofit solutions and service monetization.
  • Establish product governance mechanisms, including roadmap reviews, release milestones, risk management and stakeholder alignment.
  • Coordinate with engineering and program teams to ensure timeliness, quality of product launches and successful industrialization.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $153 800 and $256 200. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

  • For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $159 100 and $238 700 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
