Freelance Finance Manager

We are looking for a pragmatic Freelance Finance Manager or Senior Finance Professional with management experience for an enterprising retail company in the South Holland region. Someone who helps to bring more structure, control and overview to the finance organization.

The organization consists of several retail and franchise activities and is growing rapidly. The foundation is in place, but finance needs to be further professionalized. There is a need for someone who not only advises, but above all ensures that processes, reports and working methods really work in daily operations.

This is an assignment for approximately 1 day per week. Much can be done flexibly, but it is important that you can occasionally be on location in the South Holland region to get in touch with the organization and the people.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

You help the organization to make the finance function more robust and scalable. Consider creating structure, improving processes and ensuring reliable management information.

In concrete terms, you will work on, among other things:

1. redesigning and professionalizing the finance organization;
2. improving financial processes, administration and controls;
3. setting up clear reports and management information;
4. budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management;
5. the proper use and further embedding of Visma;
6. reducing the dependence on the external accountant;
7. guiding, directing and involving finance employees;
8. creating a better overview of the various companies and activities;
9. compliance, documentation and reporting regarding crowdfunding.

The goal is not a thick theoretical finance plan, but a practical and scalable finance foundation that works.

At 10x, there are two types of opportunities

1. Traditional freelance missions

These are regular project-based opportunities where the listed mission is the actual project you may work on.

2.AI Lab roles

For AI Lab roles, we scout, review, and approve profiles for access to future project opportunities.

The missions listed for AI Lab roles are not traditional job openings. AI Lab work is often highly confidential as this exposes information of what an AI Lab is working on, and project requests are unpredictable. When an AI Lab request comes in, we often need to respond within 24 hours with suitable talent.

Matching depends on the specific needs of each AI Lab project and your niche expertise. Once your profile is reviewed and approved, you may be matched to relevant AI Lab projects when suitable opportunities arise.

This can happen within hours, but it may also take months, depending on the researchers at the AI labs and their project needs.

Salary: €0 – €75 per hour

Requirements

We are looking for someone who is senior enough to quickly create an overview, but also practical enough to pick up things themselves and make them work.

You are a good fit for this assignment if you:

• have experience as a Senior Finance Professional, Finance Manager, Head of Finance, Controller or similar;
• speaks fluent Dutch and good English;
• have experience in supervising or managing finance employees;
• quickly structures figures, processes and responsibilities;
• likes building, improving and professionalizing;
• communicates clearly and takes ownership;
• switches well between strategy, operations and administration;
• have experience with reporting, cash flow, forecasting and internal controls;
• preferably have experience with retail, franchise, multi-entity organizations or growth companies;
• are familiar with Visma, or quickly master new financial systems.
• Experience with crowdfunding, compliance, governance or financial regulations is a strong advantage.
• We are emphatically not looking for a heavy corporate finance director or distant advisor. Someone who is down-to-earth, decisive and hands-on. Someone who makes finance clear, brings people along and ensures more control.

PRACTICAL

• Start: preferably at short notice
• Deployment: approximately 8–12 hours per week / approximately 1 day per week
• Location: hybrid, with occasional presence in the South Holland region
• Rate: maximum €75 per hour
• Duration: in consultation, but in any case a few months
• The rate requires a realistic match: a lot of experience is nice, but we also understand that this is not an assignment for a heavy corporate rate. We are especially looking for someone who is substantively strong, works pragmatically and enjoys building a good finance foundation.
