Role Summary

This position is mainly responsible for leading the conveyor line product research and development project team and coordinating the full life cycle management from project establishment to mass production delivery. It is necessary to coordinate multi-functional resources such as R&D, procurement, technology, production, logistics, etc., and be resident in Changzhou/Suzhou to carry out R&D project management work, and maintain close coordination with the Xi'an production base to ensure that projects are delivered with quality, on schedule, and on budget.

Chinese description

  • Project planning and project management: Receive product requirements from Shanghai product management, understand the requirements from the project management perspective, evaluate workload and resource requirements, and transform product requirements into clear project goals and delivery boundaries. Develop a project master plan, clarifying key milestones, task breakdown and responsible persons.
  • Cross-department team collaboration: Lead a cross-functional project team composed of members from R&D, procurement, process, production, logistics, etc. to efficiently promote collaboration in a matrix organizational structure. Clarify the collaboration boundaries of each function and resolve resource conflicts and collaboration obstacles during project advancement.
  • Multi-project parallel management: Coordinate the advancement of multiple conveyor line R&D projects at the same time, and rationally allocate one's own and team members' time and energy. Establish a clear multi-project priority evaluation system and dynamically adjust resource allocation based on business urgency, resource availability and other dimensions.
  • Progress and delivery control: Develop and maintain the project master plan, breaking down key milestones into trackable task nodes. Regularly organize regular project meetings to check progress deviations, promptly identify delay risks and initiate countermeasures to ensure project delivery on time.
  • Cost and procurement budget control: Responsible for the preparation and execution control of project budget, and develop detailed cost breakdown. Work closely with the procurement team to optimize supplier selection and negotiation strategies, and control costs while ensuring quality and delivery. You need to have sufficient technical understanding to be able to understand the key component selection and cost structure in the technical solution and make reasonable budget judgments.
  • Risk identification and response: Establish a project risk management mechanism to identify potential risks in technology, supply chain, schedule, etc. in advance, formulate response plans, report major deviations in a timely manner and formulate correction plans.
  • Quality and process collaboration: Work closely with process engineers to introduce manufacturability reviews during the design phase. Organize prototype trial production and quality verification to promote a smooth transition of products from the research and development stage to the mass production stage.
  • Cross-regional collaboration and business trip coordination: Establish mutual trust and efficient collaboration between Changzhou R&D and Xi'an production teams. The collaboration with the Shanghai product management team is mainly based on online communication, and generally there is no need to travel to Shanghai; occasionally, business trips to Xi'an are required to coordinate on-site work at key nodes.

Requirements

Educational background and major: Mechanical engineering and related majors, bachelor degree or above. Applicants with background in conveyor lines, automation, logistics and other related industries will be given priority. Professional backgrounds such as hardware architecture design and transmission system design will be obvious bonus points. Candidates with cross-disciplinary backgrounds such as project management and industrial engineering will be comprehensively evaluated based on their work experience.

Work experience: At least 2 years of experience in industrial product R&D project management and about 1 year of experience as a mechanical design engineer. Have practical experience in managing multiple parallel projects at the same time, and be able to maintain clear priority judgment and resource allocation capabilities under the intersection of multi-line tasks. Have practical experience working with multi-functional teams such as procurement, process, production, and logistics. Applicants with working experience in German foreign companies will be given priority.

Professional knowledge: Possess solid basic skills in mechanical engineering. It should be noted that the technical requirements for this position do not require the project manager to personally do technical design or perform technical docking with product management (this part is the responsibility of the R&D engineer), but require the project manager to "understand technology", which mainly serves two core scenarios: first, to better formulate project plans and be able to accurately evaluate the workload, cycle and critical path of the technical solution; second, to better control the procurement budget, to be able to understand the key device selection and cost structure in the technical solution, and to make reasonable budget judgments and negotiation decisions in collaboration with the procurement team.

Business skills: Familiar with new product development process (PEP) and stage-gate methodologies; proficient in using project management software (such as MS Project, etc.); mastering project cost management and budget control methods; understanding of quality management systems (such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, etc.); preference will be given to those who are familiar with SAP system operators.

Soft skills and qualities: Have excellent cross-department communication, coordination and influence, and be able to promote multi-functional team collaboration without direct reporting relationships; have excellent multi-project concurrent management capabilities, and be able to maintain stable judgment under high pressure; have conflict management and negotiation skills; be able to establish mutual trust and efficient collaboration between Changzhou R&D and Xi'an production teams, be good at using remote communication tools to bridge the distance; have strong self-motivation and learning ability. Candidates with good English communication skills will be given priority, but it is not a hard threshold - we also welcome candidates with excellent overall qualities but limited English communication, and they can gradually improve through internal English training after joining.

Other requirements: Be able to adapt to the work rhythm of occasional business trips, mainly for cross-regional collaboration of R&D and production between Changzhou and Xi'an; identify with Rexroth's corporate culture and values.
