Role Summary
The Custodian plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Collaborating closely with school staff and external vendors, the Custodian ensures the smooth day-to-day operations of all school facilities.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Licenses: Valid driver’s license.
- Experience: Prior custodial or maintenance experience preferred.
- Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks.
- Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Practical communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Self-directed with the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in electronic systems (e.g., cell phone, computer, ticketing systems).
- Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, materials, tools, equipment, maintenance principles, and sanitation methods.
- General repair skills.
- Ability to lift, bend, and pull over 50 pounds; capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for long periods.
- Comfortable working in indoor and outdoor environments, with exposure to dust, chemicals, bodily fluids, varying temperatures, and equipment with moving parts.
- Ability to travel between multiple locations daily; must have reliable transportation.
