Job Title: Site Lean Leader / Position title: Site Lean Manager

Role Summary/Purpose

  • Lead definition of strategic plan and execution of Lean initiatives across the site.
  • Drive process improvements partnering with functional leaders in manufacturing, Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, Services, Installation and Suppliers to establish a customer based process improvement strategy, which drives customer responsiveness, lead time reduction and quality improvement in the line with business/functional objectives.

Job Summary/Objective

  • Manage the definition of the strategic plan and the implementation of Lean initiatives across the entire site.
  • Drive process improvement in partnership with functional managers from Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, Engineering, Services, Installation and Suppliers to establish a customer-focused process improvement strategy, driving customer responsiveness, lead time reduction and quality improvement, in line with business and functional objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Drive process improvement in partnership with functional managers (procurement, quality, engineering, commercial, services, installation and suppliers) to establish a customer-focused process improvement strategy.
  • Collaborate with senior management to evaluate current benchmarks and determine framework processes to improve using Lean methodologies.
  • Define vision and translate it into goals and strategies, driving cross-functional cultural change and delivering consistent results year after year.
  • Provide leadership and direction as a strategic manufacturing and retail business process partner to define and analyze Lean opportunities within the company.
  • Promote waste reduction and process improvement in transactional areas of manufacturing (planning, energy management, health and safety, etc.).
  • Develop Lean Manufacturing expertise and infrastructure in the hydroelectric sector in Canada, Sorel-Tracy shop.
  • Support the simplification of complex processes and manage cross-functional relationships to support business impact.
  • Provide key outputs, metrics and presentations for reporting, operational analysis and corporate communications.
  • Support in the development of master plans and the implementation of strategic deployment according to the "Hoshin Kanri" approach, where applicable.
  • Management and deployment of external consulting resources as needed to support the execution of operational roadmaps.
  • Sharing best practices between regions and acting as a relay to accelerate intersectoral progress.
  • Responsible to drive process improvements partnering with functional leaders such as Sourcing, Quality, Engineering, Commercial, Services, Installation and Suppliers to establish a customer based process improvement strategy.
  • Work with senior leaders to assess current baselines and determine the framework processes to be improved using the Lean methodologies.
  • Shape the vision and translate into goals, objectives and strategies resulting in cross-functional cultural change which delivers consistent, year-over-year results for business.
  • Provide leadership and direction as a strategic business partner to Manufacturing, W2W business processes to scope and analyze Lean opportunities across the business.
  • Drive waste reduction and process improvements at transactional areas within Manufacturing function (Planning, ME, EHS, etc).
  • Develop Lean Manufacturing domain expertise and infrastructure in Hydro Power for Canada, Sorel-Tracy shop.
  • Support simplification of the complex processes and manage cross-functional relationships to support business impact.
  • Provide key output data, metrics and presentations for reporting, ops reviews and business communications.
  • Support in the establishment of Masterplans and implementation of the Strategy Deployment using "Hoshin Kanri" approach, when applicable.
  • Manage and deploy external consulting resources as needed to support execution of business roadmaps.
  • Share best practices across resp. regions and act as has led to accelerate cross business progress.

Relational and interpersonal skills required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or higher education institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of additional experience in lean production.
  • Languages: Fluency in English and French is essential.
