Role Summary

You will contribute to USP (Upsteam Processing) research projects for medicines. Experiments are frequently carried out on a small scale for these medicines, with the aim of supporting the production of these medicines and investigating improvements in this production process. You support bioreactor runs with different cell lines and different products.

You are, among other things, responsible for

  • USP activities on a laboratory scale
  • Carrying out supporting tasks for lab readiness, process transfer and (analytical) method transfer
  • Perform cell culture and analytical methods
  • In the future, possible support for the introduction of new products
  • Support planning and implementation of laboratory scale-down model establishment and satellite studies
  • Optimizing USP processes, including supporting laboratory scale studies and analytical qualifications

Accurately reporting on work carried out and its results. These can be presented during substantive team discussions.

A working attitude where safety and quality come first in all activities

Possible additional tasks, such as writing reports and digitization.

This is a full-time on-site position.

In this position, a weekend shift may have to be performed several times a quarter.

Requirements

A completed education in biotechnology, microbiology, process technology or life science (BSc with at least 3 years of experience or MSc with at least 1 year of experience)

  • Affinity with laboratory work
  • The ability to work independently
  • Technical expertise with biologicals drug substance upstream and downstream activities
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Experience with small scale benchtop bioreactors
  • Affinity with automation/digitalization is an advantage
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team, but also on own initiative
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience in or understanding of a GMP / regulated environment is an advantage
  • Organizational skills: the ability to simultaneously manage multiple priorities and recognize when an issue needs to be escalated.
  • Familiarity with LEAN Six Sigma or DOE techniques for efficient working is an advantage
  • A good command of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written
