Role Summary

Under the supervision of the department director, the position holder will be responsible for inspecting mechanically welded, cast and machined components to ensure their compliance with drawings, customer specifications and applicable standards in force, according to SGS procedures.

The incumbent will carry out various tasks related to visual inspection and will use magnetic particle inspection devices and other devices to detect discontinuities.

  • Carry out assignments from his immediate supervisor;
  • Ensure that all equipment necessary to carry out the work functions adequately and respects the calibration validity period;
  • Perform tests to ensure quality or detect discontinuities or defects, using magnetic particle inspection instruments and other non-destructive testing methods;
  • Carry out interventions at the client's premises according to the mandate, with punctuality, professionalism and precision, in order to offer excellent service;
  • Ensure that all tests are carried out according to approved procedures, specifications or standards in force and evaluate the results;
  • Interact with customers during interventions, to ensure good communication and smooth completion of the work;
  • Inform the client when there is non-compliance following the execution of the work;
  • Write clear and concise intervention reports within the prescribed time frame (generally 24 hours after the end of the work);
  • Perform related tasks, including carrying out specialized inspections, data entry, filing or photocopying as necessary.

Requirements

  • Training: College diploma in a technical field or high school diploma combined with appropriate and significant experience may be considered equivalent;
  • Experience: More than one year of experience in non-destructive testing inspection;
  • Hold one or more non-destructive testing certificates from Natural Resources Canada level 2 (VT, MT, UT).
  • The following knowledge will be considered an important asset: Qualification in penetrant testing and radiography. (Asset).
  • The person holding this position must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions safely and in a timely manner.
  • Master different types of software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Recognized skills to manage and coordinate several projects at once in a very dynamic and professional environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communications skills, including grammar and writing.
  • Ability to work in a group situation and independently.
  • Recognized time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Extended working hours may be necessary on occasion.
  • Travel to other SGS locations is expected on occasion.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies regarding occupational health and safety, the Code of Integrity and the Code of Professional Conduct.
