UI / Visual Designer Specialist

micro1 is engaging UI / Visual Designer experts to contribute to a writing-intensive design project for a customer. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters.

Responsibilities

• Critically evaluate user interfaces, analyzing strengths and weaknesses in visual and interaction design.
• Craft structured, well-reasoned written rationales for design decisions, documenting your analysis and recommendations.
• Develop and articulate principles, patterns, and guidelines that underpin robust design systems.
• Review, refine, and document component libraries for clarity, consistency, and accessibility.
• Create clear, visually engaging mockups using Figma, applying best practices in color, typography, spacing, and responsive design.
• Produce comprehensive design documentation that communicates decisions and rationale to diverse audiences.
• Ensure accessibility standards and usability are addressed in both visual design and supporting documentation.

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in UI, visual, or product design with a strong portfolio of digital work.
• Deep expertise in typography, color theory, visual hierarchy, layout, and responsive design.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Figma and experience working with design systems and component libraries.
• Experience documenting design systems or writing component guidelines with detailed, persuasive rationales.
• Strong written communication skills with the ability to explain complex design choices clearly and analytically.
• Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and their practical application in interface design.
• Background from leading universities or highly regarded organizations is valued; advanced English writing skills are essential.
