Role Summary

Technical Advisor - FIFO

The Technical Advisor will provide Wabtec Locomotive technical advice to Wabtec subcontracted maintenance staff for all covered locomotives on the customer rail network. Successful candidate will, amongst others: Ensure that locomotive servicing are completed in a timely manner, safely and to the agreed Maintenance Instructions (MI’s); Provide trouble shooting advice to maintenance technical personnel; Work closely with Reliability Engineers to improve key locomotive performance KPI’s; Ensures material is provided by the Wabtec material management team ‘Just in Time’ (JIT) for all maintenance opportunities; Works closely with the other relevant stakeholders to ensure all locomotives that depart customer maintenance shops are best prepared to complete 100% successful journeys; Engage and discuss Wabtec technical products with customer and subcontracting team to improve reliability / productivity and other KPIs.

This role will be based in Guinea near the port of Morebaya on a rotational basis(FIFO) of 60 days on and 15 days off. The operation is 24/7 running two 12 hour shifts.

Accommodation will be provided at the facility. Mobilization and demobilization, air and land transportation will be provided.

This role will be eligible for an assignment allowance and overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting directly to the Lead Technical Advisor this role will;
  • Respond and execute on requests for planned and unplanned maintenance, troubleshooting, failure analysis, field modification oversight, issue feedback and engineering support;
  • Providing training and assistance to customers and subcontractor on product maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to ensure maintenance best practice compliance and according to Wabtec MIs.
  • Ensure that Maintenance management system is accurately updated during assigned shift.

Track and forecast material and consumables usage

  • Track product performance metrics and issue recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinating implementation of field modifications and monitor effectiveness.
  • Performing joint investigation of failed components.
  • Interaction with Wabtec teams worldwide on technical issues, product development and training.
  • Participate during Wabtec Internal and external reporting
  • Ensure timely resolution of customer issues and customer satisfaction
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer’s business to identify opportunities for account growth and improvements

Participate and contribute during EHS initiatives to ensure work is conducted in a safely manner.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelors’ Degree in a Technical discipline from an accredited College or University.
  • Minimum of 5 years in customer facing locomotive services role- Wabtec locomotives

L1 Locomotive Technical Training certification

  • Experience, willingness, and ability to work in shop environment and to work various shifts on various days as required.
  • Understanding of Wabtec Maintenance and Material management processes and systems.

Strong leadership and Interpersonal skills

  • Ability to interface with different levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English, French or Mandarin
