We are now looking for a Head of Department for Data Intelligence, Data and AI in Trondheim - a key role in one of Sopra Steria's most high-profile investment areas.

Data Intelligence in Sopra Steria consists of over 100 specialists nationally who work with data engineering, platform, machine learning, analysis and agent-based solutions. We build the data-driven solutions of the future - from modern data platforms and streaming architecture to operational AI systems that make decisions in real time.

We are experiencing strong growth in Trondheim, which is part of one of Norway's most dynamic technology environments with solid customers in technology, energy, the public sector, health and industry. We are now looking for a leader who can help set the course going forward.

You set direction and build the professional environment

As Head of Department for Data Intelligence in Trondheim, you will be responsible for developing and leading the initiative regionally, in close collaboration with national leaders and the rest of the Data Intelligence environment. This involves:

• Develop and implement strategy for Data Intelligence in Trondheim against central strategy
• Build and further develop a strong professional environment - including recruitment, skills development and mentoring
• Drive business development and identify new market opportunities
• Build strong relationships with customers through deliveries, and contribute to offer and tender processes
• Ensure quality, scalability and continuous improvement in deliveries
• Own important customer projects from opportunity to delivery and further development

Requirements

You have solid experience in data, technology and development - and you are triggered by connecting technology to business value, building culture and leading strong professionals.

• Minimum 8 years of experience in data engineering, data platforms, machine learning, system development or related fields
• Background as a developer or technologist
• Strong understanding of technology within one or more of these areas:
• Cloud: Azure, AWS or GCP
• Programming: Python (primarily), SQL, preferably also Java/Kotlin, C#, Go, C++ or Rust
• Data platforms: Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery
• Machine learning and MLOps
• Documented experience in leading teams and influencing decision-makers, both internally and at customers
• Experience in business development, tender work and partner collaboration
• Fluent Norwegian orally and in writing
