Role Summary

Do you want to help build Digital Advisory in AFRY?

In our department, Digital Advisory, we provide advisory services that help businesses translate their digital ambitions into solutions that are put into use and have a lasting effect. We mainly have two types of assignments: we go in as advisers directly to public actors, and we take the place as a digital professional environment in AFRY's larger construction and infrastructure projects. This combination makes us different from purely digital consultants, as we are on the same assignment as the engineers, architects and project managers who build the physical part of society. We work particularly in health, defence, justice, energy and infrastructure.

You will join a professional environment that is building its own service portfolio and delivery model within AI, data and analysis. It's not a ready-made table, but it's an opportunity to help shape a service area in a fast-growing market - if you're the type that builds rather than inherits.

"For me, good architecture is characterized by the fact that it withstands the encounter with reality - with operations, with changes, with the people who will actually use it. Here we get responsibility for the whole journey, and it's a job you get better at over time."

Kristine, solution architect

We are now hiring three consultants for the data, analysis and AI service area. One of you also wants to take on the role of service area manager for the data, analysis and AI service area in parallel with assignment work.

As a solution architect, you will be the one who ties together business needs, data platform, AI components and integrations into solutions that work in operation and management, and not just on the drawing board. You will work with issues such as lakehouse vs. warehouse, cloud strategy, RAG vs. fine-tuning, which parts should be agentic, and where humans must take a greater part. You will help set the framework for the responsible use of AI, such as management systems and structures, traceability, evaluation, and how the EU AI Act and privacy affect design choices in practice.

You will also be a digital architect in interdisciplinary AFRY teams on large construction and infrastructure projects, and be the clear advisor in the customer dialogue.

Who we think you are

You have relevant higher education and experience from solution or system architecture, preferably from the consulting industry, the public sector or larger internal professional environments. You have been close to at least one data platform modernization or AI solution that has gone into production, and can rely on learning points from these works.

Requirements

You must have experience with the following

  • To design a future-oriented solution architecture for complex businesses.
  • Experience-based competence in architecture, and is confident enough to change when someone challenges it with good arguments.
  • Modern data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric or similar, cloud services (Azure/AWS/GCP) and how LLMs and KI services are integrated into an enterprise architecture in a secure way.
  • To translate between suppliers, developers, professionals and management in the business, without losing precision along the way

To be successful in the role, we believe that you have experience from environments where security, traceability and operationally critical processes are essential. You have worked with integration and platform solutions that make high demands on accessibility, and thrive at the intersection between business, technology and various stakeholders. You are comfortable structuring needs, designing good solutions and collaborating across disciplines. If you also have experience with TOGAF, ArchiMate, MLOps/LLMOps or vector databases, it is an advantage. You communicate well, both in writing and orally in Norwegian.

  • The way forward: Do you want to lead a service area?
  • One of the three we employ wants to hold the role of service area manager for Data, AI and Analysis, and will be part of the management team.
  • This means responsibility for the service portfolio, professional standards and strategic development of the area. You get time and support to grow into the role. If this isn't you, that's fine — two of the positions are pure architect roles.

Benefits

  • A professional environment under construction where your voice shapes how we do things
  • A European professional network at your back, and colleagues in engineering, energy, aviation and infrastructure environments you won't find anywhere else
  • Flexible working hours and real hybrid model
  • Competitive conditions, good pension and insurance schemes
  • Five weeks' holiday, as well as paid time off in the Christmas and Easter weeks
  • Time and budget for professional development
  • Active staff club, social activities and access to company cabins
  • Employee discounts on hotels, glasses, flights, rental car, private car, training, sports equipment and work clothes.
  • Does this sound like you?
  • Have a no-obligation chat with us before you decide. We are happy to tell you more about where we are, where we are going, and what we think it means to be part of the journey.
