This is a hybrid role requiring proximity to Bridgwater or willingness to relocate, with relocation support available.

You will provide DSEAR expertise across a major nuclear construction project environment.

You will ensure compliance, reduce risk, and support safe operational delivery.

  • šŸ”„ Act as DSEAR subject matter expert supporting contractors and project teams
  • 🧪 Conduct, review, and approve DSEAR assessments across site activities
  • āš ļø Identify fire and explosion risks, implementing effective mitigation controls
  • šŸ“Š Maintain legal registers ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements
  • šŸ“‹ Provide technical guidance on DSEAR regulations and best practices
  • šŸ—ļø Support development and implementation of DSEAR policies and procedures
  • šŸ” Review contractor assessments ensuring consistent compliance across the site
  • šŸ¤ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including safety and assurance functions
  • šŸ“ˆ Deliver KPIs, objectives, and performance reporting aligned to project goals
  • 🚨 Support incident investigations and promote continuous safety improvements

Requirements

  • Required Skills and Qualifications
  • šŸŽ“ Degree in engineering, fire safety, or related discipline
  • šŸ“œ DSEAR certification such as CompEx or NEBOSH qualifications
  • šŸ­ Experience within COMAH, manufacturing, labs, or fuel environments
  • šŸ› ļø Experience auditing explosion-protected equipment and installations
  • 🧠 Strong knowledge of DSEAR regulations and ATEX directives
  • šŸ’„ Understanding of explosion science and ignition control principles
  • šŸ“ Ability to interpret technical engineering drawings confidently
  • šŸ—£ļø Strong communication skills simplifying complex technical information
  • šŸ”„ Knowledge of fire safety systems across complex construction environments
  • āš–ļø Strong analytical skills with structured and pragmatic problem-solving
