Senior EHS Expert - Risk Management & Technical Safety (f/m/d)

Responsibilities

As a Senior EHS Expert - Risk Management & Technical Safety, you will assume technical responsibility for risk management and technical safety at the Bern location.

You act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Risk Management, Technical Safety and Incident Investigation and support technical projects throughout their entire life cycle. You will work closely with Engineering, Operations, Quality and EHS and drive the continuous development of safety standards at the site.

• An essential part of the role is the technical support and further development of EHS specialists as well as advising managers and project teams.
• Please apply in particular if you have already independently moderated and carried out risk analyzes (e.g. HAZOP, Bow Tie or FMEA), incident investigations or technical safety assessments and have experience in professional development and support of other specialists.
• This is not a classic EHS generalist role. We are looking for a person with in-depth experience in technical safety, risk management and the moderation of complex risk analyses.

Risk Management & Hazard Analysis

• Moderation and implementation of risk analyzes and risk assessments (HAZOP, Bow Tie, FMEA, JSA)
• Development and further development of the site-wide risk register
• Development of risk reduction strategies for processes, systems and activities
• Ensuring a consistent approach in accordance with ISO 45001 and CSL Technical Standards

Technical Safety & Incident Investigation

• Conduct technical safety assessments
• Management of pSIF investigations and root cause analyzes (ICAM, TapRooT®, RCA)
• Definition and tracking of sustainable prevention measures
• Transferring lessons learned into standards, SOPs and training

Engineering & Projects

• EHS support for construction, modernization and plant projects
• Participation in design reviews, HAZOPs, PSSR, change controls and technical acceptances
• Ensuring compliance with global technical standards
• Technical coordination of EHS activities in the project environment

Coaching & stakeholder management

• Technical support and mentoring from EHS specialists
• Advising managers and project teams on technical risks
• Moderation of workshops and risk-based decision-making processes
• Promoting a sustainable safety and risk culture

Compliance & management system

• Ensuring compliance with ISO 45001, Swiss legislation and CSL standards
• Further development of processes, standards and work instructions
• Support with audits, inspections and contacts with authorities

Requirements

• 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience in Technical Safety, Process Safety, Risk Engineering or EHS in a technically demanding environment
• Proven experience in moderating risk analyzes and risk assessments
• Experience in incident investigations and root cause methods
• Experience in supporting technical projects
• Experience in coaching, mentoring or providing technical guidance to specialists

Professional qualifications

• Studies in safety technology, engineering, chemistry, process engineering, environmental sciences or a comparable field
• Sound knowledge of: - ISO 45001
• Risk management
• Technical safety
• Machine and system safety
• Hazardous substances management

• Strong communication and facilitation skills
• Ability to communicate complex technical risks in an understandable manner
• Proactive, structured and solution-oriented way of working
• Confident appearance towards specialists, managers and project teams
