Senior Backend Engineer - Sorting (all genders)

Role Summary

• Developed intelligent product stream sorts incorporating user signals using NodeJS with TypeScript
• Efficient management of large amounts of data using Google BigQuery and seamless integration into business intelligence systems and our data platform
• Building and improving high-traffic APIs while ensuring minimal latency
• Work closely with experienced engineers, product managers, data scientists and analysts to improve existing functionality and introduce new features

The promotion of innovative ideas and developments, a flat organizational structure and fast decision-making processes ensure plenty of room for contribution and growth

Exploring new technologies and methods, particularly in the areas of machine learning and generative AI

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building scalable APIs (e.g. with Node.js, Python or Go)
• Practical & current experience with a typed programming language (e.g. TypeScript)
• Solid know-how in dealing with SQL or NoSQL databases
• You write well-structured, efficient and maintainable code and actively pay attention to the quality of the code base
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• You are used to working in an English-speaking and agile environment
• You continually raise the quality standards of the software you work on
• You enjoy taking responsibility for a product, supporting it in depth and also promoting your own ideas for improvement within the team

Nice to have

• Experience with centralized logging, monitoring and alerting solutions (Datadog)
• Hands-on experience with a cloud ecosystem (e.g. AWS, GCP) as well as integration with orchestration services (such as Dagster or Airflow)
• Experience with Elasticsearch or OpenSearch
• Experience building data models with dbt
• Experience operating data processing pipelines using distributed data processing frameworks
• Practical experience with machine learning models or LLM-based systems is a plus
