RPG Programmer/Analyst (Synon) - Teleworking

Responsibilities

As a Senior RPG Programmer/Analyst at Fresche Solutions, you will play a key role in supporting and improving critical applications running on IBM i / AS400 environments. You will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and project managers to deliver reliable solutions within client systems.

In this role, your primary value lies in your strong hands-on expertise in RPG/RPGLE development, your ability to navigate the reality of customers' existing application environments, and your contribution to the maintenance, improvement, and support of critical business applications. You will participate in requirements analysis, solution development, resolution of production issues, and ensure that applications remain stable, maintainable and aligned with business needs.

You will primarily work with RPG, RPGLE, CL, IBM i SQL, and Synon2/E (COOL 2/E) across multiple application initiatives and support activities.

• In your daily life, you will be responsible for:
• Design, develop, maintain and support applications on IBM i/AS400;
• Work primarily with RPG, RPGLE, CL and IBM i SQL to enhance and support existing enterprise applications;
• Contribute to applications comprising Synon2/E (COOL 2/E) components, with the ability to understand, maintain and modify existing code;
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate them into effective and practical solutions in a client environment;
• Participate in the entire software development cycle, including analysis, development, testing, implementation and post-production support;
• Resolve production issues, perform root cause analyzes and implement lasting fixes to improve application stability;
• Collaborate with business users, developers, analysts and support teams across multiple initiatives;
• Support incident, change and problem management activities in accordance with established operational processes;
• Contribute to code reviews, technical documentation and development best practices
• Help improve the reliability, maintainability and supportability of critical business applications;

Provide support and guidance to less experienced team members as needed.

• What you must have
• Strong experience in IBM i/AS400 application development;
• Strong practical command of RPG/RPGLE;
• Experience with CL and IBM i SQL;
• Working knowledge of Synon2/E (COOL 2/E);
• Experience in supporting, maintaining and improving client enterprise applications;
• Good understanding of the software development cycle, including development, testing, deployment and support;
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in production support environments;
• Ability to work effectively with technical teams and business stakeholders;
• Ability to manage priorities between development, maintenance and support activities;

Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, information technology, or related field, or relevant equivalent experience.

• Which would be an asset
• Experience in the health sector;
• Experience with RxClaim or other PBM adjudication systems;
• Experience leading technical tasks, projects, or mentoring junior developers;
• Exposure to modernization or integration initiatives involving IBM i client applications;

Familiarity with newer technologies or platforms such as Java, Python, Angular, AWS, Azure or GCP.
