Join Us as a Research Associate

At Health Advocate, we’re on a mission to simplify healthcare by delivering accurate, timely, and actionable information that helps people make confident decisions. As a Research Associate, you’ll play a critical role behind the scenes—connecting members, nurses, and advocates with the healthcare resources they need most. If you’re detail-oriented, curious, and motivated by meaningful work, this role offers the opportunity to make a real impact every day.

What You’ll Do: Your Roadmap to Impact

As a Research Associate, you’ll support healthcare navigation through high-quality research, organization, and follow-through. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Researching and understanding healthcare system websites, databases, and reference materials in accordance with departmental and corporate policies

Researching and documenting requested information such as primary care physicians, dentists, specialists, eldercare services, nursing homes, and related resources

Identifying appropriate benefit plans and benefit offerings when applicable

Providing accurate, easy-to-understand research findings to nurses, advocates, and internal partners

Responding to member requests by delivering clear, specific resources and available options

Entering and maintaining accurate documentation within internal systems

Compiling research results in a user-friendly format to support member decision-making

Tracking cases and conducting timely follow-ups with members and providers

Ensuring all work complies with quality standards, internal procedures, and applicable federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and COBRA

Monitoring recurring research issues or trends and escalating concerns to leadership as appropriate

Who You Are: The Advocate We’re Looking For

You’re someone who enjoys digging into details, organizing information, and helping others through accuracy and follow-through. You bring:

A high school diploma or GED required; associate degree in business, liberal arts, healthcare management, or a related field preferred

At least one year of healthcare-related experience preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional phone etiquette

Excellent listening skills and the ability to understand and clarify requests

Strong problem-solving and issue-resolution abilities

Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to quality

Solid organizational and multitasking skills, including consistent follow-up

Comfort using MS Word, Excel, and web-based research tools

The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment

Bilingual skills (English/Spanish or other languages) may be required based on assignment

Why Health Advocate?

At Health Advocate, we don’t just support our members—we support our employees too. When you join our team, you’ll gain:

Comprehensive training and the tools you need to succeed

Opportunities for career growth and internal advancement

Competitive pay: Starting at $16 per hour

Benefits: A robust benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, tuition assistance, PTO, and paid holidays

A mission-driven culture focused on accuracy, compassion, and meaningful impact

A collaborative environment where your contributions truly matter
