Quality Inspector at Smiths Group in Maracaibo, Zulia, Venezuela.

Role Summary

Carry out inspection and quality control activities on materials, components and finished products, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, customer requirements, applicable regulations and internal John Crane standards; manage the measurement equipment used, maintain the records required for traceability, and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of quality and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

Inspection and Quality Control

  • Perform reception, process and finished product inspections in accordance with inspection plans, technical specifications and current procedures.
  • Verify compliance with dimensions, functional characteristics and documentary requirements of the inspected products.
  • Identify and segregate non-compliant products to prevent unauthorized use or release.
  • Maintain identification of the inspection and testing status of materials and products.

Management of Non-Conformities

  • Register, document and track non-compliant products.
  • Participate in root cause investigations and the implementation of containment and/or corrective actions, as applicable.
  • Support the management of customer complaints by providing technical evidence and quality records.

Traceability and Records

  • Maintain inspection, testing and traceability records of critical materials.
  • Ensure the integrity and availability of quality documentation required by clients and certification bodies.
  • Prepare reports and quality management indicators.

Metrology

  • Manage assigned measuring instruments and equipment.
  • Control the calibration, verification and identification of the metrological status of the equipment.
  • Keep the inventory of measuring instruments updated.
  • Manage requests for replacement or acquisition of instruments when appropriate.

Continuous Improvement

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects and optimizing processes.
  • Propose actions that contribute to strengthening the Quality and HSE Management System.
  • Collaborate in internal and external audits when required.

Requirements

  • Industrial, mechanical or related engineer with three years of experience and knowledge in
  • Dimensional metrology.
  • Interpretation of mechanical drawings (ASME Y14.5 / GD&T).
  • ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • ISO 9001 Internal Auditor (desirable).
  • Non-Destructive Testing (VT, PT or MT) (desirable).
  • Handling of measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, comparators, roughness meters, etc.
