Role Summary

As a project engineer (m/f/d) in hydraulic engineering (infrastructure planning subarea), you will be part of a project team consisting of civil engineers (m/f/d) and natural scientists (m/f/d). You will work on exciting projects in the areas of hydraulic engineering, geotechnics and traffic planning.

Your main tasks will be the following

Project management in diverse and exciting infrastructure projects that cover the entire range of the subject area (e.g. hydraulic engineering, railway construction, bridge and tunnel construction, road construction, land development…)

Planning the underground infrastructure for the above-mentioned projects, in particular

Dimensioning and routing of drainage systems (including determining the assessment basis) across all HOAI service phases and across all pipe cross-sections (house connection to culvert),

  • Collision checks and planning of cable transfers for other media (including telecommunications)
  • Planning of road and other surface pavements, including substructure and terrain modeling
  • Development of drainage and infrastructure concepts as well as development of technical solutions, even for complex existing situations
  • If necessary, support in the planning of hydraulic structures (e.g. waterways, dykes/dams, locks, port facilities, etc.)
  • Preparation and documentation of the planning results in reports and presentations
  • Presentation of planning results to our customers and other project participants
  • Technical guidance for our infrastructure planning team, which is currently being set up

As a project engineer (m/f/d), you will also be involved in the preparation of offers and the economically successful execution of commissioned projects.

Your work is associated with extensive coordination processes with project participants from different disciplines.

Your new team

The hydraulic engineering and civil engineering group in Hamburg consists of a team of specialists (m/f/d) from different disciplines. In addition to civil engineering with its specializations in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, geotechnical engineering and environmental engineering, these include marine engineering, mechanical engineering, ship operations engineering, geography and biology. This interdisciplinary team enables us to tackle even unusual projects. In addition, we can rely on the knowledge and support of the many colleagues (m/f/d) in the Ramboll Group.

Requirements

These include

  • Successfully completed studies in civil engineering (M.Sc./Dipl.-Ing.) with a focus on hydraulic engineering, structural engineering or comparable
  • Min. 5 years of professional experience in the planning of underground infrastructure (focus on drainage) and ideally also in the object and structural planning of constructive hydraulic structures and associated earthworks such as locks, dams, bank reinforcements/quayways
  • Confident use of common planning and CAD programs, ideally AutoCAD/Civil 3D; Experience with BIM is an advantage
  • Ideally, practical construction experience in the construction of underground infrastructure and hydraulic structures
  • Ability to work in a team and be enthusiastic, enjoy working independently and be flexible in terms of areas of responsibility
  • Very good knowledge of German and good knowledge of spoken and written English
